...when I was a child...I thought, what a good, kind, loving and Godly person that must be.

...now, I think, what a judgemental, hateful, arrogant and unGodly person that must be.

...Do you believe that fundamentalists have ruined religion and turned it into a mockery as I do?

I do it is very very sad... I am religious... I do believe in one God... I believe in the God with the greatest commandment to love... I think it is horrible. I want to love, I want to show kindness to all and as soon as someone finds out I am a christian it turns them away... It is not fair that that group of right wingers has made such a bad connotation of the word christian... It should mean love, but instead now I am afraid most of the time it means judgmental... If only the christian religion as a whole would pay attention to the words they preach AT others then perhaps we could all have our religion or not and have our individual lives and live happily together... naive and fairytale like I know...

I used to think that too. I hired a guy with a fish on his business truck not that long ago.
We made the mistake of paying him in full right before he was completely finished with our sunroom. He only had the shoe molding left to put on to close the gap between the floor tile and the wall, which is kind of an important and routine part of finishing a room. Well he never came back! We kept calling him and leaving polite messages, to no avail. Finally my husband went to his home and asked him when he was going to finish our room? And he said that we hadn't talked about the shoe molding and that it would be another $150. My husband told him that we didn't talk about the other mouldings so why is this small job suddenly an "extra"? My husband looked at him and said: "I'd rather pay someone else $200 to do it, than to have you in my home again."
I hope this guy doesn't think that he's a reflection of God, because he's a dishonest charlattan. When we finally got another guy to come and do it, when he found out that this was an unfinished part of a room we'd fully paid for, he gave us a discount and he didn't have a fish on his car! ;o)
Sorry I went long, but it was such a great question and it hit a chord! Thanks. I'm giving you a star! ;o)

Absolutely! I think that people are using Christianity as a status symbol instead of a foundation from which personal growth stems. So, the first thing I think when I see one of those fish on a car is that I want to snatch it up and use them to make a sculpture of Jesus giving everybody the finger, personally that's what I believe he thinks about all these *ss-backward pseudo christian hypocrites that believe the fools in their parish's opinion are more important that their families feelings or well-being. oops that was a little bitter.

The fish was the sign that the early Christians used to identify themselves and not be caught by Jewish and Roman authorities....in other words somewhat of a secret "code" or "message" to let others know that they are carrying the true faith. But today, there being thousands upon thousands of Christian denominations, who can use the fish symbol but the ones who still hold true to that One True Faith, which is the Catholic Church.

And yes, I do think that the fundamentalists have done horrid damage to Christianity through there unscriptural dispensationalist "rapturists" ideals and their war-mongering agianst Muslims, not forgetting thier anti-Catholic, pre-concieved notions which just spread falsities to people and hurt their chances of coming into the Church of Christ.

Unfortunately, it does make me think that the people inside are ignorant. I know that is wrong, because not everyone is as bad as the radical fundamentalist christians are.
I try not to judge, but I agree, they have turned Christianity into a mockery. It's time the Real Christians take back their religion, from the lunatic fringe.

When I see one of those fish symbols, I always double check to see it its got four little legs and the word "evolve" inside. If not, then I quickly move away. Because I seem to be abnormal and just cannot tell a deliberate lie, the last thing I need is a public conversation with a devout Christian. Whether fundamentalists have ruined religion is really not my concern. I just want them to stop tampering with America's laws, school curriculum, science, and government.

Unfortunately I know exactly what your talking about. I don't desire having a fish on my car anymore myself, but there was a time, not too long ago that I could not wait to put one on. My new car is sticker-free... it looks more professional and I like it that way.. anyhow when I see those fishes, I think: "do they really think that would make me know something about them just by looking at their fish?" Being unashamed of Jesus is one thing (personally, i never did understand the being ashamed of Jesus thing... that's like being ashamed of your Nobel Peace Prize or something. It doesn't make sense to me) but people are not putting fishes on their car because they are hiding from persecution like the fish symbol was used for in the beginning. Putting it on the car for all the world to see now seems like maybe some of them are just bragging... and not about Jesus. I would hope thats not the case, but thats what it seems like.

I think of Jesus' miracles...

Its a mistake to exalt any man's example...either bad or good to determine your own spiritual faith. When we get before God, we cant say.."well I rejected You because all the men I knew were hypocrites". Faith is a personal decision. If you think everyone is hateful and arrogant, then step up to the plate and show what you believe a christian SHOULD be, instead of standing on the sideline making comments and throwing stones...

the person is a Christian and willing to display a sign that once ment death if found out-a secret symbol to identify each other. It is better than nothing but why not say a good word for Jesus too-to share his love and care.

you have missed salvation and are critical of belief in the salvation of Jesus-as well as letting phony people pull you from coming to the truth

this is what helped me over my false beliefs="Professing themselves to be wise they became fools." the bible

isnt this PROOF -EVERYTHING CAME FROM NOTHING WITH AGE-SO IT HAD A CREATOR AND DIDNT EXIST ONE MINUTE BEFORE CREATED

IT DIDNT HAVE A FAIRY BUT BECAME A LIVE WITH A PERFECT DNA-TO REPRODUCE ITSELF PERFECTLY BY ACCIDENT.

had a billion accidents and turned into a human-what more proof to u need than that LOL but i pray for them and Muslims too to come to Jesus=and I share the truth not just a question=The life records prove Jesus came and died-I doubt there is execution records on file-yet it is possible yet take it a step further-Isaiah did more than mention the death of Jesus the Messiah-He recorded it

Isaiah 52:13-53:12, and also said Jesus would be God almighty- Isaiah 9:6 "Unto us will be born a child, a Son is given, and he will be almighty God and the prince of peace."

of course some will say that the Jewish people who reject Jesus put this into their Jewish Hebrew Scriptures so it is not true-why would those that reject Jesus put this in and then leave it there still today? be real

what is the advantage of being a member of a group apposed to the Bible and Creation with many many Creation scientists all back to the masters too such who believed the bible and stood against athiesm that said the world was flat which proved the bible was wrong-because the bible says He made the eartht a sphere." listen to Jesus according to his own religion=

well Jesus said "My sheep hear my voice and follow me." John 10

the problem is we have to do what the good shepherd Messiah Jesus says "I love you repent quickly from your sin (even one lie), Behold I knock on your heart door if you hear my voice and opent he door, I will come in and begin a fellowship with you and you with me, if you repent and ask me in." Revelation 1:1, 3;19&20 and chapters 19-22 about the joy of heaven in salvation, and the agony of hell weeping forever for those that refuse the voice of Messiah Jesus.

As a Jew-I come to messiah from the prophecies Isaiah 52:13-53:12 as I gave this man but he refused to listen- "He will lay down his life as a lamb and make atonement for our sins." will we listen?
LET JESUS HELP YOU, REPENT OF YOUR SINS AND BE NOT ONE OF THOSE SPOKEN OF -IN THE LAST DAYS MANY WILL SPEAK EVIL OF THEIR RULERS AND CALL GOOD BAD AND BAD GOOD.
why not make good music like Amazing grace sung of the one Messiah Jesus thanks

that is how you become true to God in life and death to heaven from an x antagonist against salvation in Jesus too David
