I am an atheist. I have heard the claim many times by Christians that atheists want to disprove God with science. I disagree. I think that most scientists just want to know the truth, whether it be that God does or does not exist. I personally wish I could believe in God. I mean do you people really think I want to live with the idea that when I die, nothing happens? Do you really think I want to go through life without hope? I would be overjoyed if someone could prove Gods existence. I could be wrong, I've been wrong before, but I think that most atheists are in the same boat as me.

"I think that most atheists are in the same boat as me."
Probably. Still, god doesn't exit.

Thus the vehicle of Faith bestowed upon us by God. You can search the "natural" world for explanations of man's origins, the Earth's origins, whatever--it will never give you what you need to make an accurate assumption on God, Who is Supernatural. God is revealed in His creation, (Romans 1) sure but He is mostly revealed in His Word. Until you trust in that Word as truth, you will be blown around by every wind of doctrine, especially humanist doctrine which is so rampant in these days. I noticed you said "do you people really think I want to live with the idea that when I die, nothing happens?" Why do you think that you find yourself longing for an afterlife? Where did that come from? You could say media, movies, society, childhood etc. But it came from the same Person that presses on your heart right before you do something you shouldn't be doing. Sir, I don't think that you "don't want to believe" because flags are popping up for you that say you are discontent. Do a little more UNBIASED, right-down-the-middle historical research on the Bible--you will be AMAZED. It blew me away, and I was a cocky 24 year old know-it-all! There are many intelligent, reasonable, and logical people who are Christians. I am not saying go out and join a Church, go read the word of God. (Jer 29:11) And if science is your passion, keep studying it. God has made Himself known in His creation as well! They are not in conflict, these two, but rather in harmony.

Ok- you are probably going to think this is just Biblical jargon- however I will tell you this because of personal experience. If proof was all we needed, then faith would not be necessary. This may seem backwards to our worldly thoughts- however what people need to do is step out in faith, and then God will reveal Himself to you- maybe not in the way the world would understand, but in a way that you would never deny Him again. Faith is not in what is see, but in what is unseen. After Christ rose from the dead- He went to his disciples- Thomas, even with Christ standing in front of Him, had to ask to touch the holes in His hands- Jesus replied "Blessed are those who do not see and yet believe". You realize that without God there is no hope- this would only come from someone who is seeking. Admit you are a sinner, like I did, accept Christ as your payment, like I did- ask Him to be your Lord and Savior, and ask Him to feel you with the Holy Spirit- and I guarantee that He will reveal Himself to you- because He has been seeking you, long before you were born.

An agnostic believes that there merely isn't sufficient info in the international to declare for specific that there is a God. An atheist is somebody who merely believes that a God would not exist, era.

Sorry, but the point of faith is belief without proof. Proof defeats the entire concept of faith. According to prophecy, during end times there will be proof, but it will be too late for those than denied Him before the proof. And no, I'm not saying anyone is going to hell, I'm not God, I don't have a clue who goes to heaven or hell, not my call. I'm just kinda hoping there's some other ending for non-believers. I think the people who should actually spend time in hell would be mass murderers, serial killers, child molesters, etc., and that there's just a nice, eternal sleep for the others.

When we die, we decay and become food for worms. It's not like "nothing" happens to us. Of course, we will not be conscious of what happens to us when we are dead.
Why spend so much time worrying about death when you could live a full, productive life by annoying as many christians as possible?
Seriously, why are you going "through life without hope" regarding what happens when you are no longer alive? How about enjoying what you can control (life choices) instead of what you can't control (stuff that happens when you are dead)?

Not all of them, but I encounter that point of view regularly.

Along with the one that insists we do know God exists but are ignoring him in order to justify our immorality (usually quoting Romans ! which says, in effect, "God is obvious")

I believed the God hypothesis for a good while. It is comforting. Being on the inside of group tends to be, apart from anything else. But that alone doesn't make it true.

Great point. I totally agree with you. Heaven sounds like a great place. I would love to see my wife and kids in heaven someday. However, I do not think that any man or woman on this earth truly knows whether or not such a place exists.

i think atheists are confused.

Religion is not science. It is based on Faith and Faith does not need proof.

Hundreds, thousands and millions of miracles have been witnessed around the world, performed and done in God's gracious name. Those can be your proof if you want.

Believing in God also means you believe in angels, in miracles, in saints, in the existence of good and evil, in Jesus, in the Holy Spirit and in life after death.

The fact that they (the ones who spew that garbage) equate science with atheism shows the level of their ignorance and lack of intellectual curiosity. There are many religious scientists.
