I've heard that some atheists, as well as believers are critical of the arguments "The God Delusion" and thus "The Dawkins Delusion" was written to point out the flaws in the arguments of "The God Delusion".

I believe that “The God Delusion” should be subject to the same level of scrutiny as any other book on the subject of the existence/non-existence of God?

I am a Christian and I heard McGrath (the author) dialogue with Dawkins about this issue. I felt McGrath could have been far more aggressive in pointing out flaws in Dawkins. I think he was just trying to be too polite. I prefer Alvin Plantinga's reivew of Dawkins in Christianity Today or Terry Eagleton (atheist) in the London Review of Books.

[edit] Daniel R: I'd be glad to discuss Plantinga with you. Why not just email me or IM? I'm not sure how I can find you on that discussion board.

[edit] So I registered with the "infidels" but I can't post because I am a new user. Anyway, nice rhetoric.

I haven't read McGrath, although I did smile when Dawkins pointed out that the theist has now based two books on an atheist.

However, I'd just like to respond to the poster above, who recommended Plantinga's review of Dawkins. Generally, I am completely unable to see any merit in Plantinga, and his review of Dawkins is a case in point. He seems so facile, so easily refuted, so instantly wrong in every way that I cannot understand how he is taken at all seriously, let alone feted as one of the leading Christian philosophers. Can anyone explain it to me?

(If anyone feels like defending Plantinga at length, please post a thread at www.iidb.org in the Philosophy forum and I'll join in there.)

I've read the Dawkins Delusion. It doesn't counter the arguments, and is at times hackneyed and the same old worn out arguments. It's very poorly written, and appeals far too much to righteous indignation and is in the end, a sub-par effort. Christians and believers can do much better, I'm sure.

i might advise you to stay removed from it. As a Christian, i know how sneaky and conniving devil is, and he ought to actual use this e book against you. it ought to convey forth many doubts and ought to offset your courting with God. besides the undeniable fact that, in case you actual experience you're able to study it (pray to verify you're doing the main suitable element!), placed on the entire Armor of God earlier. Have the Scriptures suited next to you so as that as quickly as you come for the duration of something that opposes God, you are able to lookup a verse that hinders Dawkins' argument. Be continuously praying that the e book won't sway your religious ideals. be careful.
