I do not really get the "fear" thing and I have heard it means a different kind of fear.
Yes, you and I can both ask him things. I ask him things every day and have even been mad at him and yet, he still loves me and he still loves you too.

To fear God is as if here on earth you had a very loving father who was also very strict about you smokin pot (or whatever your parents may have been strict about). And you knew that if you were caught smokin pot you;d be in some deep *** trouble - you should fear God similar to the way you would fear a loving but firm parent. But God is God, parents are human.
As far as questioning him goes, whoever told you "never question him" must have no clue who God really is. Read the Psalms. Davd is pouring out question after question to God about all the emotional as well as hysical ways he is suffering and fearing for his life. In fact the Bible encourages questioning God, He wants you to come to him with anything that's bothering you, no matter how small or big - if it's causing you hurt then God wants to be there as your comforter and answer anything that's on your mind.

God is not someone to fear. I HATE the fact that Christianity tells you to be God fearing. Ugh. God is my friend and my father and I have a close relationship with him. I'm not afraid of him, more like in Awe of him. A little timid. Not afraid. I think the best example of the power of God and of Jesus and his greatness is when he's represented as Aslan in the Chronicles of Narnia. A powerful lion, majestic, wise, and intelligent, a little overwhelming, but nothing to fear as long as you don't aggravate. Asking God is always a good thing. He's here for us.

Most people are going to go through this world without ever understanding what it is to fear the Lord. And in many ways this is good because maybe you have never done things bad enough to which you may have to fear. But if you do not fear, then you will never know what I know and maybe that is good for you.

I am a christian and i believe you SHOULD question, if you do not, how will you ever learn or grow on your faith journey... and anyone who pushes fear and hate on you is not doing God's work... It is easy to tell who is doing God's work - If they preach love to EVERYONE no matter what the circumstances I believe that is God's will... but again, that is my view. Go for your own spirituality and do not let yourself get hung up on what other people have come up with for answers (or lack there of).

God never told anybody anything? It's people who pretend to be interpreters of God's saying are really afraid of question. If you question God and put them in trouble of answering and think logically, it'll affect their existence and business. Do you know that every religious institution is a business? It's not the God who fear questions, but these Clown who pretend to be interpretors of GOD; so is you don't have to fear God

"To fear" used to mean "Respect" not necessarily "be afraid of."
As far as "never question" goes. That's just silly. People question God all the time. Even Jesus questioned God ("Is there another way? If there's another way could we do it that way?").

I think the statement that God is always right, will chuck you to Hell if you don't believe in him, but that he's also understanding and will forgive you if you kill someone then repent, well, it's much too contradictory for me. One of many things that rebuke me.
And it's not the fact that gazillions of people tell me that I'm headed straight to Hell that's going to make me change myself.

Check out the Book of Job. God got very annoyed when Job questioned him with what appears to me to be very reasonable questions.
Not that I believe any of that - but that's what the book says.

I hear ya..... the ones that get me are the ones that call themselves "God fearing" christians.
It just proves to me that their fear of god leads them to follow his demands...oops. i mean... his teachings.
Do you think the people who lived in the times of hitler called themselves "Hitler fearing" people? Maybe, but they had just reason for calling themselves that.... Fear of an invisible sky daddy does nothing but allow people like Hitler & G.W. to manipulate the masses & have their way with people.
