there are lots of houses on the upper east and upper west sides...mainly brownstones as someone else mentioned. state island is almost all nice middle class homes, as are large parts of queens and brooklyn. brooklyn has a lot of apts, probably second to manhattan in no. of apts. i honestly dont know much about the bronx though.
