I usually get the cheapest one I can find, since most of them are commodity items. Even surplus power supplies work just as well as a new one, costing 3 times as much.

If you really want super quality, Lambda and Acopian are probably the best.

If you want to go portable, go with a car battery.

For a wall-plug transformer, try going to amazon.com and searching for a Wagan 12V transformer. It is normally used to power mini-fridges, but I use mine for my many ill-fated experiments. I like the transformer because the amperage is high, averaging around 5A.
