Amen, but we should all learn from our mistakes and be kinder, gentler, more loving.

Personally, I sometimes can't help laughing when I read about Crusades and Jihads and religious genocide. Billions of people have been affected by an argument over the form of something that doesn't even exist. Obviously only one religious philosophy (if any) can be "right," so (although I side with atheism) even if, say, the Jews are correct, then Christians and Muslims are killing each other (and themselves) over absolute nonsense. If some sect of Christianity has indeed found the truth, then the conflict between Islam and Judaism is utterly mad (as if it wasn't already). If Muslims are right, then what about the Nazi Holocaust, and the oppression of those "Jewish Heathens" by Christians and vice versa? And if I'm right, then the irony is even more hilarious.
Maybe I'll just get some popcorn and lemonade and watch those who disagree with me blow themselves up.

I care.... I care because without the past, there would be no future..... without the laws established in the past, the future would have no guidance from those of us who think, today, what tomorrow will bring......
Had it not been for these who claim a faith by which men have learned self-conviction, forgiveness, being forgiven, confession, and prayer, who we are would be lost in a world trying to find a menas to stop the lawless aggressions which would have long been upon us......
i say, let the men of faith, be of good faith.......and those who do not believe, follow the laws which are written within; as well as those laws which were established by them who preceeded us with that which make us common men and women. Those very laws which punish and excuse them who commit atrocities against us who follow its guidelines.
It began with the people who followed who we call 'God'.

I certainly wish people would forgive, and cease to bring up the past like an accusation against people who never participated in, nor agreed with, the atrocities committed by unenlightened people.
It is just as pointless as it would be for my husband to hate me, because his Scotish ancestors were deprived by the English of their homes and lands (and lives) in the Scotish Clearances. Neither he nor I was involved in perpetrating or receiving this injustice. For all we know, the combatants, long dead, have already shaken hands and kissed each other's cheeks.

Yes we can learn from the past, but the future is what matters, making the world a better place for our children and grandchildren, we should be uniting together as one and forgive as you say

Hi-
Just for the record
religion is different from a relationship
many heinous things have been and are being done in the name of religion
"Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this; to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world." James 1:27
And though it would be nice if this were a new generation and a new day etc.. We are heading toward the last days.
"But realize this that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable malicious gossips, without self control, brutal, haters of good treacherous reckless, conceited lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power..."2 Timothy 3:1-5
"...there is nothing new under the sun." Ecclesiastes 1:9
Sincerely - Redeemed

You say it's a new generation...yet I see the killing in the name of religion still happening. What you say should be true, but it isn't. No matter how many people cry out for peace, there are always going to be just as many calling out for blood to be shed. I'm not saying that it is futile to hope for peace and understanding, I'm just saying that it's hard to imagine, even in this age.
And yes, I am one of those who would have been burned at the stake too.

I care what happens in the past - because it affects the present. The crusades, the reformation, mohammad - all of it affects what is currently happening in the world.

This attitude is too advanced for today's humans.
You will be asked to step into the bright light, and not worry these humans anymore.
Thank you for your support.
