My dog went outside yesterday morning and when I went back out to get her she was sitting right up next to the house.
Her tail between her legs... she looked very sad. So i brought her in and checked her over- no sores of anykind... She is now following me around the house. She does not whimper or hurt so to speak when I touch her anywhere, but I did notice her upper leg seems to be rather tight and swollen... Could she have pulled a muscle... It now takes her a few seconds to sit down, but she does not really baby the leg when she is walking... Any suggestions? Baby Aspirin? She is 65lbs Beagle/pointer mix. Thanks for any help!

She may have been stung by a bee...

You should really have the vet take a look at her.

If it was my dog I would have the vet check him, because I know there are quite a number of things this could be.

A 'pulled muscle' would not necessarily causes swelling. You have to be aware that if the tail is in fact involved with this it could be more serious, possibly involving the back.

As you can see from the variety of answers on here, you can't be sure what the problem is without professional help. It is never a good idea to just plug aspirin at a dog if you don't know what the problem is.

It could be a pulled muscle, or she could have done something "bad" or gotten scared, and that would make her feel upset, and therefore put her tail between her legs.

Don't give a dog human medicine unless directed by a vet. If she doesn't act like she's in pain, it's probably just an emotional "ouch." If she doesn't return to normal in a day or so, then call the vet.

hmm this is tricky. Try applying pressure on the area to see if she shows signs of discomfort or pain. If she does, then she might have an injury - which will probably require an x-ray by a veterinarian.. if she does not show signs of pain, give it a couple more weeks and if she is still walking like that then take her to the vet anyway... just to be safe..

On the other hand, something traumatic might have happened to her outside causing her to feel clingy towards you. Dogs often put their tail between their legs when they are scared.... either way it sounds like she is trying to show you that something is not right with her...

sure they might pull muscle groups yet because of the fact that it is happening every time you choose for a stroll it is a few thing else. they might have the two a cruciate ligament concern or some form of hip dysplasia commencing. Get the vet to do an xray to help verify what is going on.

Our male pug pulled a muscle in his lower back. He would go down stairs but he could not come up them. At one point he was quivering. I knew he was in pain. He has been on medication or 3 weeks now...we are headed back for a follow up.

You should go to the vet. Do not medicate w/out medical advise.

Don't give her any medication without speaking to a vet first. Many drugs that are good for us can be toxic to them.
