Most of the time people get over sickness and/or addiction without prayer, or with prayer to another god (vishnu, thor etc.).
There is no correlation between prayer and health, indeed some studies/experiments have shown the reverse to be true - people get less healthy when they know others are praying for them.

Yes, it happens all the time.
I'm an atheist, and I got over two fevers, one vomiting session, many headaches, and a bad cold without believing in a deity.
I did so because I was young, had a strong immune system, and good medicine.
Besides, prayer has been shown ineffective in the treatment of disease:

Now ask if anyone has ever gotten over sickness or addiction without modern medicine, and your answers may vary.

I was addicted to drugs as a young adult, I was able to get over the addiction without prayer. I did not pray for myself and those that would have wanted me to stop didn't know of my addiction, so they did not pray for my addiction either.
I made up my mind on my own that quiting was the only way to have what I wanted in the way of a real life....

Yes. I have recovered from every cold and illness I've had without prayer, except for the occasional plea for death. (And that was only after puking for a few days and a particularly vile fever.)
As for addiction, I decided not to start, so I don't have to quit. Pretty simple, huh?

Yes, I am in remission from advanced hyper-thyroid/Grave's disease.
I was told my time to live was short, instead of praying I took a more active approach to my health, it worked out great for me.
