Nothing can be taught, Nothing can be learned.

There is only revelation; that of which the light only reveals to those who look deep enough within.

I most certainly learn from others. I seem to stagnate completely when I can't interract with other people. Even if I read books, it all seems so pointless to me if I can't share thoughts with other people. Even things I have received through inspiration are not "self taught" because the inspiration comes from God.

My little brother said this to my mother a couple of years ago: "Oh, I raised myself." Mum was deeply offended. (She is very loving, but not very big on giving direction.)

I sniggered when she told me what my little bro had said ("So true", I thought to myself). He is the fourth child in a family of eight (I'm the third). My little brother (whom I love deeply) has always been the stubbornest little kid. He'd rather get smacked and yelled at (by Dad) than give in to another person's demands... and then he'd just say, "Didn't hurt! (sob)," and he'd continue to do things his own way. (At the age of four, he also said things like, "I don't have to do what you say! You're just a woman!") He's so funny....

Anyway, point is, he was always in his own world, and never listened. He was so right when he said that he had raised himself. Even if my parents had sat him down and taught him, he wouldn't have heard, and he still would have been "self taught".

Humans are such fascinating creatures, lol.

Self-taught for the most part. Some was from working with others. :)

Both. You will learn on your own from your experiences in your personal practice and you will learn from the people showing you the practices. You also learn from communication with your deity, spirit, etc.

I would think that you are a practitioner that works either hermetic religion or just with Egyptian deities. I worked as a solitaire for years and worked with the Egyptian pantheon. However it was learning hermetic religion that I found it easier to learn and work with a group.

We all learn from others because our views are dependent on the culture and organizations around us. I'd say that a small part of my education is directed by self-interest, but even this is influenced by culture.

Others are an excellent mirror for questioning self, but the answers are always found within. This is where awareness must take place.

The chicken and the egg really. My questions lead to books that lead to questions. I've never had a teacher, unless you'd count my old friends Issa and Basho.
