I have twenty four years of military service. Twelve years active duty Navy and twelve years Army National Guard with nearly four years of activation. The Guard is in process of medically discharging me. What are the advantages/disadvantages of such a discharge, and what options do I have? What would be a good website to find such information? Any first hand experiences would be appreciated. Thanks

These are service related conditions.

PTSD, Sleep Apnea and Back and Neck Pain I had neck surgery after being hit by a Humvee. I do not know yet what percentage of disability they plan to give me but will hopefully find out soon.

I work for the VA in Michigan and I have to agree. We need to know if this is service connected or not. What medical problems do you have? I was also ex-Navy and Army Guard myself. So if you can answer that for me I can try and find out all that you need.

What back water city are you from? they have been giving the anthrax vaccination for the previous decade. and you're saying you probably did not have a clue approximately it? i detect that tricky to have self assurance. the possibility of a severe area consequence is 0.004%. (it is a million in 250.) you have a better threat of being killed or heavily injured in a automobile accident. in basic terms because of the fact it has not been used as a weapon huge scale would not recommend it could't be used huge scale. In 1979 the Russians had a significant accident with it and wager who have been given despatched in to handle the region? the militia. Anthrax isn't contagious? the place did you get that little bit of information? If something of your info is the two unfavourable, it rather isn't any ask your self you're afraid of having the shot. it rather is contagious from animals to human beings, yet that's not why they choose to grant you the shot. they choose to grant it to you so which you do not drop over if it ever is used, leaving a hollow on your unit manning. in case you do not think of it is critical, think of a maintenance team at a forward base. One guy does munitions, one guy does gasoline, one guy does avionics, one guy does engine restoration, and so on. Now which ONE guy can drop over lifeless and not pass away a hollow in the interest skills mandatory to repair the airplane? ultimately, they won't court docket martial you good off. they supply you a pair of Article 15s. loss of pay, loss of rank, greater accountability, limited to base. Your last time in the USAF would be depressing. Then once you refuse the 0.33 time they're going to kick you out as not worth for provider. you will get a familiar discharge and loss all those VA advantages, the GI bill, and the Veteran abode mortgage assure. in case you somewhat push it, they might do a court docket martial and supply you a dishonorable discharge, wherein case you may on no account be a cop, can on no account very own or guard a gun and would have a tricky time stepping into the greater ideal colleges because of the fact a dishonorable discharge counts comparable to a legal conviction. I accept as true with the above, guy up and take the shot.

make sure you get the best Disability percentage you can. Also, look into Rehab and training, which should be covered under your VA bennies.

With 24 years in, take a look at plain old retirement, too, to see which would be better financially.

The first question we need to have answered is: "Is the medical condition service-connected?"

I retired when the doctors refused to lift my profile.
