find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.

cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.

Do you have a gym membership?? If you do, you should use the eliptical trainer. If not, you could do some light walking in the morning before school or you can get a walking dvd and work out at home. Swimming, walking, biking are all good exercises for weight loss and are also easy on your joints.

It's pretty simple and even easier if you're busy. Eat when you're hungry and stop eating when you're satisfied. This does not mean eat all the time. If you really track your hunger pangs, you'll realize that you aren't as hungry all day as you think you are. We eat for many reasons besides physical hunger. I eat because it looks so delicious! But if you start each day and tell yourself to eat and enjoy eating, but only when you're hungry, your body will guide you and you'll eat the amount that is appropriate for you. You may be surprised at how little your body requires. Try it for a few days. Couldn't hurt!

Losing weight is a simple equation: if you burn more calories than you eat, the weight will come off. Start off by estimating how many calories you burn each day using the calorie calculator http://straighthealth.com/pages/tools/caloriecalclb.html This will give you an idea of how many calories to eat. Healthy weight loss is 1-2 pounds per week. To lose 1 pound per week you need to create a calorie deficit (burn more than you eat) of 500 calories per day. To lose 2 pounds a week, you have to double the deficit to 1000 calories per day. You can achieve this by eating less, exercising more or a combination of both.

maybe cut down on portions and try to walk for 15-minutes to half an hour every other day or more if you can! Exercise shouldnt exhaust you but should give you more energy (even though it feels like hell when you are doing it) =)
Try to eat a bigger lunch and cut down on how much you eat for dinner... cuz thats the time our body seems to be winding down. And dont eat the restaurant food unless its healthy!

Cut back on the calories that you're consuming, espeically through fat. If you're having a problem with your joints, you may want to make sure everything is treated as best you can with regards to medically (i.e. physical exam with your doctor). You may want to take up swimming or water aerobics to decrease the stress on your joints.
