I completely agree with you.
I used to worry about every little thing I did, concerning myself only with things I thought 'god' would be happy of.
And what did I get for it? Nothing.
Now I can kick back, relax, and do whatever I like without having to worry about religious repercusions. Christians ask me: "Well aren't you worried about your soul?!" My answer simply is, I have no soul, and I'm not going to give a damn in a bucket about anything after I'm dead. I'm going to be rotting in the ground, and all I worry about now is doing good things for people while I'm alive, not wasting time 'praying' for some higher power to help.

You don't need to be religious to beg for forgiveness.
Christians don't have the monopoly on morality. If you're an Atheist then, presumably, you still have a conscience. If you do something wrong, or something that harms someone else (even unintentionally), hopefully, as a sentient being, you'd feel bad and beg for "forgiveness" (albeit in a non-religious sense... "forgiveness" as in forgiving yoursef, hoping things turn out alright in spite of your error, etc...)
If you can honestly say you've never done anything wrong (not that's "wrong" according to religious teachings, but "wrong" based on common morality, compassion, and humanity), then great. You're an anomaly. However, if you, like EVERYONE else, have done things which are "wrong" and don't/didn't feel bad about it simply because you don't have religion telling you you should then, well... you're a sociopath and need to get help. *shrug*
PS: whoever said non-religious people don't have a purpose in life was also way off. Just because someone isn't religious doesn't mean they don't have a purpose or care about that which is around them.

I'm a Christian, and I'm so happy. I'm living knowing that I'm here for a reason, I'm special, and I'm loved. I don't have to BEG forgiveness, because God has already given it to me. He gave it to me 2,000 years ago on Calvary. Now, I had to accept His work on the cross before I could be forgiven, but sinning again doesn't take away my "heaven status". Nothing can, because He says that "Nothing can separate us from the love of God". The goal of Christianity isn't to go to Heaven. It's to glorify the Father in all that we do and to have a personal one-on-one relationship with Him. Of course, we want to go to Heaven because that's where He is, and He wants us there with Him to enjoy fellowship with Him. Wouldn't you want to spend eternity at your best friend's house?
I enjoy life to it's fullest. I enjoy knowing there's a purpose for life.... I don't see how anyone can be happy thinking they are an accident. That's how so many children grow up feeling they're unloved while sitting in an orphanage, because they heard they were an "accident". God has created each and every one of us to be in communion with Him. He also gave us the free will to choose not to have a relationship with Him. There's no sense in forcing someone to love you. If Heaven is a place of communion with God (which is what makes it heavenly in the first place. A Christian will be complete when he is with the Father for eternity) then why do people who don't want to be Christians get offended by people telling them they're not going to go to Heaven?

"Whereas look at atheists. We can ENJOY LIFE. None of this begging for forgiveness nonsense. I think we are the ones that are really happy. Maybe someday Christians can realise that they are just wasting their lives."
So you could rob someone, steal their homes, and do the dirtiest of dirty, and never ask forgiveness, because well then you wouldn't be enjoying life?
I think You really don't understand what asking for forgiveness means.
We ask for forgiveness, for being people that he expects so much more from.
When you let your parent's down, Were you sorry? Or were you not enjoying life, If you were sorry?

Have you never been sorry? Not ever? Was there never a time in your life when you hurt someone and "wanted" to be forgiven? A friend, a lover, a family member?
Or are you making biased judgements against Christ based on the inability of people to forgive you? Or based on your inability to forgive those who have wronged you?
The beauty and grace of the forgiveness of Our Father through Christ Jesus is that all we have to do is ask. We don't have to BEG, count hairs or injure ourselves. We don't have exclusions such as we put on others - like I'll forgive you only if you never do it again. It's just not like that with Jesus.

yes, you can "enjoy life" and sin all you want and not accept Christ as your savior, and never ask for forgiveness, but one day you will realize that living the Christian life was right. Life now is short compared to eternity. By the way, we do not have to beg for forgiveness- He already paid the price- we ask, He forgives. Living for Christ, by the way does not always bring "happiness" as the world knows it , but He gives joy that is unspeakable and full of glory. And by the way, I know Heaven exists- and one day you will too. I choose Jesus now!! If you report me for "preaching" so be it- you are preaching your belief too , aren't you?

i dont think they mean it as if you are unhappy just because you dont have a religion, sometimes people ask people to convert and say, we want you to be happy, not as if we are saying youre not happy, but like for example if you are down and have no motivation for hope or life, religion plays an important factor, or like when you fear something you need a motivation for hope, like lets say if you were in an accident, you might pray to God to make it out alive, or if you have a concert and want to do good you pray to God for a sucessful performance, christianity is like any other religion pretty much, soemtimes if people want to convert you its only because they want to share the wealth or want you to go to heaven with them, its like helping someone. Yeah they may say to be happier, but its not like we ever intentially insult anothers religion. I dont think they point and say you arent happy, they say so you can be happy. This isnt how you should really look at this but my friend makes a good point when she says this, "i rather believe in god and find out that he isnt real, then to die and then find out that he is."

I am a Christian, and I enjoy life. I find my religion to be very enriching. Even the classical music and art of my church is quite aesthetic, which is another source of pleasure. If you don't have a need for spirituality, that's your business, but I do, and my religious practices fulfill it. My belief system doesn't teach us to crawl through life as joyless automatons, but rather to experience the fullness of life, both good and bad. Wasting my life? It's hard for me to feel that way, given the fullness of my life thus far. As for asking for forgiveness, that's done by anyone with morals. If we hurt someone, we ask their forgiveness, in addition to seeking out self-forgiveness, if necessary.

I do ENJOY LIFE and God knows that we are going to sin, and I dont BEG for forgiveness. I just try to make right choices and if I do end up sinning, I ASK for forgiveness. When are all you atheists going to understand that WE dont think WE are wasting our lives and leave us alone. I love everyone and I dont judge for not believing....

1) Any Christian who tries to get you to believe in Jesus so that you will be happier is, in my opinion, preaching something unbiblical. Jesus promised hardships, not peace. And by becoming Christian, I don't believe our hardships decrease.
2) Your image of Christians is completely false. I don't spend my time in guilt, constantly begging for forgiveness. I live in freedom, knowing that I'm free from guilt, shame and sin. It gives me peace.
3) Christians can enjoy life just as you can. I'm happy, I enjoy life and I'm not sad or depressed because I choose not to do sinful things.
One does not have to be Christian to enjoy life. On the other hand, one does not have to be an atheist to enjoy life either.
