There is nothing wrong with it on mashed spuds it just is unusual to some people.

We are having a fiery red sunrise right now very similar to the colour of tomato sauce.
(just thought I'd throw that in)

I eat ketchup on baked, mashed, whipped, crisped, and fried potatoes. I think as long as you have a good potato to start, then add plenty of salt your ketchup will fit in nicely. It's just something about tomatoes and potatoes I love!

French fries have a crisped outer layer which give it a different texture. It could be the texture of the mashed potatoes that make it taste bad with ketchup.

mashed potatoes is good with gravy but not ketchup but i made tomato soup with potatoes in it
just the way it is then!

It IS good on mashed taters bro! Try stirring it in or something. If you put too much then its gross but the same goes for too much on fries.
