There are intelligent people on both sides just as there are ignorant/stupid people on both sides.

You said fundies and not theists so I think you are talking about the people who follow faith blindly and are very closed-minded. . the ability to understand something beyond your own perspective is a sign of intelligence so I would say atheists. but education can make you more open-minded so maybe the reason is that atheists are generally very educated people ?? I dont know. I'm not an atheist myself btw

Weeelll, 40 out of 43 studies on the subject have demonstrated that atheists do (on average) have significantly higher IQs and education.
But you have to take into account the other factors. It takes a certain mindset to be atheist, and most tend to be educated by default. Also consider that some 93% of leading scientists are atheist, while the majority of under-educated rednecks are christian or fundamentalists...
The results are unfairly skewed in favor of atheists.
Though it is undeniable that the average atheist would be more intelligent and educated than the average fundamentalists (mathematically), it's not entirely a fair statement or comparison.

I'm a weak agnostic atheist, I qualify for both weak atheism and weak agnosticism.
I think strong agnosticism is as good as saying the supernatural exists, as their position is no matter what we uncover we can not understand the supernatural.
I think we now have a clear picture of the evolution of religion from polytheistic to monotheistic, and most organized religions disprove themselves. I don't see any evidence to give deities any other more thought than any other archetype that could come out of the human mind.
I think while strong atheism is not a illogical as claiming a deity as fact, it uses the same false logic.
"religious affiliation has nothing to do with IQ"
- Wrong, all studes have shown the higher the IQ, the less likely to be religius.

There appears to be a correlation between atheism and intelligence, according to many different studies. (Perhaps more accurately, an inverse correlation between strong religious belief and intelligence.)
So to state the answer in a way the "fundies" will understand it:
Atheists are smarter.

it's not a matter of intelligence. I don't think there is an IQ type scale that measures "open mindedness" or "critical thinking" or "naivety".
There are plenty of fundamental christians that are intelligent. they've just decided to use their brain in a different way.

Since Christians don't know that they're descended from Judaism, Atheists are more intelligent.

This is an argument that I see far to often, it is a generalization and generalizing in this way shows a lack of intelligence.
No matter who is doing it.

Is this a serious question? I mean, come on. A person who has actually taken some time to think about what they believe versus someone who is too scared of not doing what their community tells them to do. Seriously. I mean, really.
