I always found the Wiccan religion fascinating. I'd like to hear more details about it and what people think of it. From what I heard, they do believe in God and are more in touch with the earth and spirituality. What are your thoughts?

I do NOT believe you would be bound to damnation if you showed an interest in another religion Wicca included. You aren't saying that you would take this on as your religion just that you are interested.

Wicca is more in touch with earth and inner spirituality. You can be a solitary practitioner, and worship in your own time and in your own way. It is a bit more personal of a religion. Not focusing going to a specific building to worship at a said time, because God/The Goddess isn't at that building, He/She is everywhere around us.

Yes Wiccans worships more than one God/Goddes, but they believe all Gods to be one God, all Goddesses to be one Goddess. Thus Krishna, Allah, Jesus, etc would all be one in the same.

There are also many circumstances where someone identifies themselves as a Christian witch. They use Mary as their Goddess, and Jesus Christ as their God.

Wicca is definitely very interesting, and if you want to look into it there is no harm in doing so. Look into many religions, maybe you find one that speaks to YOU. I am a firm believer that a person should practice a faith that the BELIEVE in and that the FEEL. Not one they are practicing because the "should"

Good Luck

Wicca replaced into popularized by way of Gerald Gardner in 1954, regardless of the indisputable fact that its theology would have been prepared from human beings lore and mythology in around 1920. The branches are noted as Gardenerian and Alexandrian Wicca. Wiccans have self assurance in the two a god and a goddess, the two certainly one of that are polytheistic deities (many deities performing as personalities of one deity). A possession and ritualistic faith, individuals can invoke the deities and effectively become them. it rather is organic to contemplate some thing exterior of one's convenience zone as "evil" regardless of the indisputable fact that evil is a value judgement. rather, issues are independent and our critiques sway them into the two stable or evil categories. Christians will think of of this faith as evil because of the fact it is not Christianity, it rather is exterior, and could be squashed for the stable of mankind and the church. after all, you're actually not certain of being the main useful if there is opposition, good? greater desirable than something, in case you are trying it, be careful and respectful and save an open concepts. issues that seem depraved or risky would basically be new and require greater examine, yet basically with severe warning. i've got been burned till now. My suggestion: in case you get a warning, and you already realize it rather is a warning, heed it and pass approximately your day.

Wicca as evil? No, I don't think so. No religion is intrinsically evil, evil is an internal thing that each person generates for themselves.

Are you bound for damnation? that would depend on who you ask, as to what answer you get. From a Wiccan perspective, the answer is no. We don't have, nor do we believe in a place of eternal torment, other than being stuck in an elevator with Jerry Falwell.

Of course how Wicca is defined, depends also on which Pagans you ask. What all who claim Wicca have in common is that we are an earth-based religion, this means we see ourselves as a part of nature, not separate from it. We do not worship the earth as many who know nothing about Wicca claim, we revere and honor the earth as the physical mother of all life that dwells upon it.

As far as the belief in "God", again this would depend on which Wiccan claimants you speak to. I have my personal views, which I am always happy to correspond about in email.

In this world when something isn't understood, it is put under the label of "Evil". Wicca is a nature based religion and we respect both the feminine and masculine aspect of God. Also there is the belief that nothing is either all good or all evil.

There is both good and bad in all of us and in nature itself. There is nothing in this world that is pure evil, just as there is nothing in this world that is pure good. we as humans have the choice in the matter and that may be why it is seen as evil. The small fact of choice and not just following the flock.

As for the comment by Michelle "hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, self ambition, drunkenness, and orgies" WHAT? Is this what the bible teaches about passing judgment? if it is then you are a hypocrite plain and simple. or you could take a couple of labels from your little list there.

We are a peaceful religion that wants t serve or god/goddess,follow our chosen religious paths and do good in the world, live, love, raise a family, and have careers. Does that sound too radical or off the wall than what most people in the world want?

What Wiccans believe depends on the kind of Wiccan.

I believe that most British Traditional Wiccans are henotheists. They may believe in other gods, but when working as Wiccans, they worship only the Wiccan God and Goddess. The Wiccan God and Goddess' names are only shared with initiates, so we don't know Their names.

What I call Neo-Wiccans (those who have not been initiated into a BTW tradition) are usually monists. Most of them believe that all gods are facets of one God. Some are dualists, and believe that all gods are facets of one God and all goddesses facets of one Goddess.

More in touch with the earth and spirituality than who? Some Wiccans may be more nature-centered, but some probably consider a cheap motel to be camping.

Hope that helped.

Edited to add: J-Boy's answer was excellent.

Well, I suppose I could give you a long story on what I see it as, however i ll just give you the basics...
You are not bound to damnation if you take an intrest in wicca.
Most wiccans you will meet follow the rede, "an it harm none do what ye will"
Usually wiccans believe in a god as well as a goddess. some believe that they are to big to fit into one religion and others believe that only wicca is correct in their beliefs just as other religions commonly do.
We do not have a temple of worship, instead we cast circles and this is convenient to us because we can do it any were at any time.
some wiccans do magick however you dont have to. if you do it it is a personal choice. most of us believe in karma, whatever you do comes back to three times over.
the greater part of us dont believe in forcing our religion on others and if you wish to learn more contact me at lazymonkey292@yahoo.com

They are no more evil than Hinduism or Buddhism or Shintoism. They respect the positive and negative in all things, including spirituality, but tend to promote the positive. They promote developing your inner tools through ritual practice and have a code of ethics that forbids it's negative uses. They give honor to both the God and the Goddess, the masculine and feminine in all things. I think the human spirit is universal, that there is no One True Faith, so their views are just as valid as anyone else's. Of course, it's important to research what you're curious about. Some people would tell you that they are evil and worship Satan, but that's not true. People who would tell you that have never done any research into Wicca.

The hardest thing for christians to come to terms with is that there are people who have religions completely different from their own, but are not evil people. A thousand years of dominance in the West has let the power go to their heads and Christians seem to want to paint anything other with a negative light. But the world is getting smaller and we're having a cooperative spirit so just cast "evil" from your mind

Wicca is a pagan earth based religion that takes inspiration from early religions in Europe before Christianity. They believe that the seasons have mystical power, that elements and natural objects resonate with power and feelings associated with them and that using these in a beneficial way can improve their lives and connect them to a spirituality found all around them. Most of it is actually an extension for reinforcement therapy and animism. If you have a romantic evening planned, you might want to light red candles, because they denote love. To a Wiccan red candles not only mean love, but they can gather and reinforce romantic energy present in the universe, channeling them into the surroundings.

They do have deities, but there are different takes on them. Some beleive that there are two major forces in the universe, a masculine and a feminine. These two encompass everything in the universe, but to call on them for something specific (asking for things isn't forbidden but encouraged, much like praying for something to come to pass) it should be focused, so instead on asking the Feminine aspect to bring you love, you instead direct it to Aphrodite, as a aspect that has a connection to romance, that image of the Feminine has absorbed these traits and invoking them brings that energy to you. Others believe that all the different gods and goddesses of pantheons exist equally. Others have a (more buddhist inspired) view that they are either spirits of energy or focuses for energy within yourself. They do NOT beleive that they are incarnations of the Christian God, because they are not Christians. Their one commandment is thus: An it harm none, do what thou wilt. or more simply "do what you want as long as it doesn't hurt anyone" They seek harmony so while there may be other moral codes and rules individual wiccans go by this ios the only one that is a rule because it encourages harmony and inclusion.

If you want my advice definately check it out, it's important to find what feels most comfortable to you. Just remember to approach it fully and open-minded, little half-steps won't tell you the full story. The worst that happens is it isn't for you, and all religions preach forgiveness right?

It is not evil. It is just not Christian...which in the eyes of the Christian make it evil.

To people who are a bit more objective, Wicca is quite benign. It doesn't have a rigid set of dogmatic beliefs, not does it demand that it be the sole focus of your life. Wicca is a highly individualistic faith, if a bit erratic.

They do not believe in a single god per say, but rather honor the sacred masculine and sacred feminine. The individual Wiccan may apply a name to these concepts that they can easily relate to, but that is strictly a personal choice and not a requirement.

It is an Earth-based religion, with a strong angle towards environmentalism. Their rituals are basically identical to prayers...but they can be a great deal more fun.

Wicca is not evil. We worship the Goddess and the God. The four elements hold a special place for us, earth, wind , fire, and water. We don't believe in Satan, everything has two sides, good and evil, Gods included.
