Probably because not everyone has a thorough education about the subject you're asking about. If I ask any random person on the street to prove to me that Cool Papa Bell existed, do you think that they all could provide substantial proof? Could Average Joe tell me how to perform an appendectomy? If you truly want answers and evidence, go to the people who are scholars in that area. There are people who have put in the hours and done the research and can give you the evidence. Average people on Y!A are not all that educated.

Because their claims of evidence are based on what they saw on some fundie website, and have no hard facts behind them.
Belief is based on faith, which is fine as long as you respect others who's faith is different from your own.
It is asinine to believe that there is hard evidence for out there. If there was hard evidence, then no one would believe anything else.
All we get is along the lines of; "there must be a , look how beautiful the guinea worm and the digger wasp are."

They do (well, sometimes). You just don't don't consider it valid evidence.
Religion is based on faith. Believing something to be true is evidence of its truth. Just because that doesn't fit your standard of "evidence" doesn't mean it's not.
Frankly, the same can be said for atheists. For all those who have tried to use some scientific theory to disprove God, taking for grantit that it's very possible, according to religious beliefs, that science is merely a manifestation of God and, in fact, PROVES God exists. Not to mention science (ie: theories which evolve as new evidence arises) takes a big leap of faith... the two biggest "creation" theories, Big Bang and evolution, are fairly new theories, and still have many holes in them... not that they aren't true, but it takes a level of faith to believe they're true... And since they're so new, does that mean they didn't exist before someone had evidence to back them up? Hm? But wouldn't that mean you're placing your faith in uncertain evidence created by man in hindsight (much like religion)?
So yeah... I realise you just wanted to offend Christians, but you actually just ended up showing your own ignorance and lack of reasoning ability.
Personally, I think you're all (Christians, Atheists, etc...) full of crap! =) Er... no I don't. Except when you attack each other.

It receives worse. no longer in hassle-free words isn't any empirical or purpose information provided, yet empirical information is disregarded, no longer researched, or thoroughly discounted. As a very last determination, firmly held believes are switched from literal events to metaphorical. In different 50 or so years, the oldest books of the Bible will be considered thoroughly metaphorical. the project with this, for sure, is that metaphor needs no information - yet then it really is in hassle-free words as genuine because the author.

Irrationality and evidence do not mix well. They will never be able to produce evidence. There is no evidence to support an invisible man in the sky that bestows heavenly accomodations to the faithful. There is no evidence that prayer is sucessful....except to show the power of the human mind when belief is powerful enough. There is no evidence that water turns to wine, that people come back from the dead or that worldwide floods have occurred. They cannot provide you with what only exists in their minds. Don't ask so much from them! It overloads their circuits and they start parroting out scripture.

You were in the wrong group of Christians. Ask those who can answer you. Don't just pick up anyone. Go to those who claim authority on the subject, maybe you will find an answer.

Unfortunately, many believe and even go to church regularly and even live the christian life. But they are lazy about studing and learning things on their own. They get a sermon, refer to a few scriptures and they know just enough to get themselves in a discussion bind. It is what i call the sunday christian, that is the only day they really focus on their faith by just attending and listening.
Now the ones that want to challenge them are far more prepared to insert their tourmenting questions. It is just as sad. A football coach knows more about the other team than either party of this example.

The reason is that these claims are self-evident. It is easier to guide the blind than the one who refuses to see.

If it's evidence that you want to consider for the Christian faith, please read Josh McDowell's book, Evidence That Demands A Verdict. There are plenty of others if you are willing to look.
