No not at all. Pill popper...that's such an awful name to call anyone. Someone who takes pills all the time has reasons, and either needs them or has a problem.

You, you have a reason. You can't sleep. Perfectly understandable. No, you're not a "pill popper." You have a legitamate reason to take medication that cures you of your insomnia. best wishes :)

Ok first of all.. completely IGNORE that first comment!! I have KNOWN someone who actually OD'd on sleeping pills!! NOT a fun way to go either... actually he felt FINE the next few days (after the groggyness wore off) then about the 4th day something happened to one of his organs (I believe it was his liver) and his whole body went "septic." It was VERY painful and he died w/in a few hours!! VERY VERY SAD!! So like I said.. dont EVER take MORE then you should!

Now.. addressing the question. It is OK to take sleeping pills... a LOT of people DO! BUT if you are having to take them for more then 4 weeks then you need to talk to the doctor! Sleeping pills ARE addictive. Not for any kind of "high" that you get or anything... but b/c when you use sleeping pills it messes w/ you natural meletonin (which is what your body produces to fall asleep) and after being on them for more then a few weeks.. your body wont make the meletonin on its own, thereby making you ADDICTED so you have to KEEP taking them (after all.. thats what the drug companies WANT, right!?)

If you are having problems now falling asleep BECAUSE you have been taking them every night you should definatly talk to your doc (or your mom). Ask about a sleeping pill called ROZERUM! It works differantly then any other sleeping pill on the market. It WILL knock you out just like all the others, but it also RESETS you meletonin so that after taking them for about a month your body will make that chemical again and you will no longer be dependant on them to fall asleep! You can still take them every now and then if you have problems again too.

One other thing... if you are taking sleeping pills... make sure that they DONT have acetominiphan in them (like Tylenol PM or Advil Sleep) b/c that WILL mess w/ your liver function and could be very unhealthy for you in the long run. Instead take something like Simply Sleep or Unisom that is just FOR sleep and nothing else! AND if you are taking a prescription make sure that it is for YOU (and no one else). A LOT of sleep prescriptions out there are based on WEIGHT (like Ambien) and if you take someone elses dosage you could be taking WAY TOO MUCH for you!

I really hope that helps!! Sweet dreams!

Some of them can be very addictive and have long term problems associated with them. The drug manufacturers would love for you to take them for the rest of your life but if there is a way you can stop, you should. Try meditation or reading a book before you go to sleep that will help. Don't watch TV or be on the computer before you go to sleep, that will also help.

NO IT ISN'T OK TO TAKE SLEEPING PILLS. WHAT YOU HAVE STARTED TO DEVELOP IS AN ADDICTION. YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE TO TAKE MEDICATION TO HAVE A NORMAL SLEEP CYCLE. UNDERSTAND ME THOUGH, THERE ARE PERIODS AND CIRCUMSTANCES THAT MAY AFFECT US AND INTERUPT OUR NORMAL SLEEP, BUT LIVING ON PILLS IS NO SOLUTION. EVENTUALLY AFTER ABUSING THE PILLS YOU WILL "NEED" MORE PILLS OR STRONGER ONES TO ALLOW YOU TO SLEEP. I SUGGEST YOU WEAN YOURSELF OFF THE SLEEPING PILLS, TRY SOMETHING HERBAL AND RELAXING SUCH AS CHAMOMILE OR THERE IS THIS NON-HABIT FORMING HERBAL TABLET CALLED KALMS. YOU CAN ALSO TRY READING IT MAY MAKE YOU FEEL SLEEPY OR TRY LYING DOWN IN BED RELAXED, NO TV, NO LIGHTS AND EVENTUALLY YOU MAY FIND IT EASIER TO FALL ASLEEP. HOPE IT'LL HELP.

Why don´t you ask your doctor?
I think it´s all right if you have a severe sleeping problem.
Lack of sleep is worse than pill taking, but these should
be prescribed!
Sleep well!

No it is not okay and yes it does. You dont need them... you think you do but you don't. get help to get off them. they can cause serious damage if you use them longer than a week or two. please find a way to stop using them. take valerian tea, take hot bath, go run till you drop dead in your bed, but do not take sleeping pills other than in emergency only.
