I've heard that guys use this line as an excuse for them not to be with the girl but in other cases, i've heard that this line can be true. Guys separate friendships (with girls) from their love interests, right? Some guys may not want to go out with their friend because it could potentially ruin the friendship....is this all true? Would it depend on the girl? What if she was a good friend AND the girl you've liked forever....are you still worried about the friendship?

******************pretty much what i'm asking...do SOME guys actually DO MEAN IT when they say it? and not just say it to get out of dating a friend?

Yes, some guys actually mean it. I liked this one friend of mine a while back and tried to get w/ him, but he gave me that same line. I knew he like me too because he told me so and it showed so bad, but we were really tight and we both decided friends is the best way to go. I am glad it went that way, honestly, because I met my fiance shortly after. Some guys say it because they aren't interested in you that way, but some are they just don't want any drama w/ a good friend.

You know, that's a really good one. A lot of times relationships start out as friends, but it depends on which level the relationship is turning to. I believe theres two types: really close, as in brotherly/sisterly, and then just .. close. It'll either go in one of two ways: into liking one another, or just staying good friends. And sometimes, the two people it's happening with are BOTH in different directions on the same spot.

So in general, yes. It does exist. But it depends on lots of variables, and it's different for everybody. If you kiss them and feel like your kissing your brother, then obviously you know what direction it's going. If you kiss them and feel like your heart's pretty much exploded, then you'll know what direction that is too. Just remember that either way, if you DO break up . .that friendship will be seriosly affected in the end, and you never really know how it's going to turn out. Always be prepared.

Of course it can be true. The bottom line, though, is that if someone doesn't want to be with you, they are going to probably you some reason. Wouldn't you rather hear they don't want to ruin the friendship than they find you unattractive or annoying? Fact is, you want to find someone who wants to be with you too. It doesn't really matter what the reason is.

a man I've known for years said he'd like to date me, but he was afraid of ruining the relationship. we've gone out to eat a couple of times and he's come over (with his girlfriend!) to my place, so I guess he meant what he said. I've never considered him a good friend, just a friend.

not everyone have self assurance in " meant to be " yet me in my opinion, I do! specific its in basic terms a asserting and often it may look a fluke yet in step with danger its certainly the asserting coming genuine. i think of you merely would desire to have self assurance and sometime you merely arent meant to be. extremely there are different issues meant to be can advise, I certainly have had previous stories and that i think of that that's genuine, I certainly have used the asserting many situations myself! wish it helped :)
