thanks
I just got braces the other day but I don't see how that would have any kind of connection.
But I'll go ahead and ask my dentist about it anyway
it can also come out of place while I'm talking

You may have a condition known as TMJ (temporomandibular joint syndrome.) Sometimes a dentist can help manage this by giving you an appliance to wear at night that keeps your jaw aligned.
Here's some good information

You could be one of those people who has TMJ. DO you often suffer from headaches?
My jaw used to do that frequently. When I finally broke down and went to the dentist they did xrays. From those they were able to determine the cause.
Where your jaw connects there is a cartlidge (sp?) in between the top and bottom sections of your jaw, when you chew the cartlidge is under a degree of friction/pressure. For me, when I'd chew I'd get a popping sound in my ears and sometimes my jaw seemed like it had shifted and it would take me a minute to get it to feel normal again. It was painful.
So the whole result was that the piece of cartlidge had been wearing down because I have an over bite, which they wanted to fix by breaking my jaw and replacing it (I was having none of that!!!) I think that over time I just learned to chew a certain way and I don't have many problems with it anymore. Like you it might happen once every couple months. But if you really want to set your mind at ease it may be worth it to ask your dentist about it, there could be a different cause. Better safe than sorry.

it sounds like you've had this for more then one day so I think it's time to go to the dentist because he'll know what the best way to deal with it. like you said you may need to get some type of brace, but only a dentist would know. If it's only been with you for less then a day try moving your jaw around like open your month really big or side to side it may just pop it back in.
