Pepto usually works but I think you need to work with the vet more to find out the cause. Possibly the food or something but it needs to be fixed not medicated.

If both of your dogs have the same problem, I'd say it's the food. A good healthy food should help. You may have to try a few different ones before you find the one that fits your dogs but you can start at www.mypetpantry.com
We use their food and are very happy with the results. Whatever you do, google "pet food recall" on a regular basis to make sure your choice of a new food is not being added to the list.
And please don't go the homemade food way. Unless you know what you're doing you will not give your dogs what they need.
If this problem has been going on for a while you may want to look for a new vet.
Hope that helps.

Things like diarrhea shouldn't be treated without knowing the cause.. You can't treat a symptom and hope to get rid of the problem.. You have to either take your dogs to the vet and have the situation investigated further and go from there.. Or you have to investigate yourself and find out why you are having this problem.
I suspect it's likely your food.. Dogs aren't naturally anorexic.. Although I suspect that she is just thin.. Dogs love to eat, and a good quality natural dog food, your dogs aren't going to have chronic diarrhea problems if they have no other underlying heath issues.
It could be anything, you need to find the cause, if you treat the symptoms, this will remain a chronic problem.. Treat the problem and get rid of it.

Change food. Feeding a raw diet will likely fix the problem.
What your dog is going through is likely caused by vaccines. Digestive disorders is very common and people continue to ignore the facts that these kinds of issues are caused by vaccines. Also can be caused by heartworm prevention containing Ivermectin.
Ivermectin has been proven to cause the following side effects: Vomiting, diarrhea, seizures, paralysis, jaundice and other liver problems, coughing, nose bleeds, high fevers, weakness, dizziness, nerve damage, bleeding disorders, loss of appetite, breathing difficulty, pneumonia, depression, lethargy, sudden aggressive behavior, skin eruptions, tremors, and sudden death. Though a minority of dogs experiences these reactions, they are seen in many breeds. Veterinarians also report that many dogs also get stomach and intestinal upsets, irritability, stiffness and just feel rotten for the first 2 weeks after each monthly dose of heart worm protection. An American Veterinary Association report on adverse drug reactions showed that 65% of all drug reactions reported and 48% percent of all reported deaths caused by drug reactions were from heart worm preventative medicine.
Keep in mind the stats at the bottom are from "reported" incidences and I believe that the reactions and deaths due to this drug are probably much higher. The reaction doesn’t have to be immediate either. A dog can be seemingly doing fine on heartgaurd or any other heart worm prevention containing Ivermectin (Ivomec) for months or years then all the sudden fall ill and neither the vet nor the owner would suspect the medicine.

Have you TOLD your vet the Flagil isn't working, or do you just keep getting it?
Ask your vet for another option, or for diagnostic tests to find out what the actual cause of the problem is - this really helps find the right medication!
This diarrhoea may not even been curable with meds, it may be a nutrition problem.

I would try changing their diet before you really start looking into medication. The web site below has detailed info on what may be causing the problems with your dogs and explains how to go about changing their diet. Also, boiled rice and chicken are supposed to be good for a sensitive dog stomach. Good luck!

I don't know how bad it is, but I have a dog with a very fragile stomach. Any little thing out of the ordinary will upset it. I've found that imodium works best for him. I usually just give him one pill (half a dose). If it doesn't work by like 12 hours or the next day I give him another one. Usually works for him.

One natural way is to give your dogs a mix of yogurt and canned pumpkin, due to their size, I would say to mix one can of the canned pumpkin (NON spiced) and 1 cup of yogurt (plain and NOT low or non fat) per day until the diahrrea stops. The flagyl is more than likely causing the upset tummys, but you should continue to give it as it was prescribed. You can continue to give the dogs the pumpkin/yogurt mix even when they are not having tummy issues as it is a great source of fiber and the yogurt will help keep the bacteria in the stomache balanced. You can do this with both cats and dogs and most will eat it with gusto and consider it a wonderful treat!

I would go to a different vet. If it keeps happening something is wrong that no doubt needs a vets care.
Blood tests can tell a lot. Have you ran a full blood screening on both? That would also be a good place to start.

My dog gets sick as a, well, as a dog when she eats human food. I give her a pepto tablet. One tablet for her because she is about 80 pounds (avg child dosage). Maybe that will help. I wouldn't give it every day, though. It works fine for the occasional upset.
Try these:

Have you tried Pepto-Bismol?? I have used this on my dogs for nausea and loose stools.
I don't know how big your dogs are but call your vet and ask for the dosage that you can give Pepto_Bismol. It really works well and fast. I gave my dog 7.5 ml the bottle comes with a cup.
Good Luck
