Actually I find that as I get older and learn more about this world, I am more dependent on God as well as thankful for all the sufferings and problems he has gotten me through.

I agree. The more open minded a person is, more open to new ideas, new information etc. the more intelligent they are, the less likely they are to cling to out dated religious standards.
That doesn't mean an intelligent person can not be a religious person, it just means the more intelligent a person is, the less likely they will be to fall into a radical fundamentalist group (of any religion).

No. There are intelligent people whose religious beliefs are heightened by learning. As ignorance increases, religiosity increases.

Wrong. the more I learn the more I appreciate the True God of the Bible, Jehovah.
From the complexities of DNA, alignment of solar systems, the water cycle, to the life of plants--all increase appreciation of the order and discipline of the Creator.
It helps to understand the value and accuracy of the Bible.
