Try trap or skeet shooting.
They're great sports, always a challenge. All you need is a shotgun and some shells a few $$ for clays, a club to go to - your goal is to break all the clays thrown in the air. Safety is a main concern, so make sure you let people you're shooting with you're new and let them run you through the safety rules and practices of the range and clay shooting game.

Trap and skeet are great shotgun games as are sporting clays, which is enjoying a big popularity these days.
Another way to have fun with guns would be to joint the Single-Action Shooters Society, SASS, and take part in their cowboy action shooting events. Part of the fun is developing a personae and dressing the part of an Old West character. Most SASS events use single-action revolvers, lever-action rifles and double barreled shotguns for the main events. Sidematches for derringers, pocket pistols, and single-shot long range rifles are usually also on the bill of fare.
If you prever more modern arms, IPSC, and several other handgun sports cater to the high tech pistoleros.
But the most fun of all it to take a couple of guns, and a friend or two and just go to the range and burn some powder!

I am in a outdoor archery club. There are several ladies that participate. It is good to be outside get to go for a walk in the woods. It is also good practice for archery hunting season if you want to get to that point.
