I’m thinking about becoming a Christian but the evidence for evolution is just too compelling to reject it. But, I’d like to keep my options open.

Of course. However, most Christians discount evolution.
I'm a Christian and believe in evolution.
Reason being, is time to God has no meaning. The Bible says that a day to God is like a thousand years. Why not a million or billion years? It's not specific about that.
When God created Heaven and Earth, it may have taken more than 7 days as we know time. Because, in the beginning darkness was on the face of the deep. No way to judge a 24 hour day. Hope this helps.

Faith is different from science. evloution still involves original creation . It is supposed that evolution is survival of the fittest and yet it still originated somewhere. I personaly don't believe atoms form so many life giving creatures for no reason. the smallest particle is formed by light, hense validating the Genesis. Not all of the bible seems clear and may seem to contradict it's self but there again faith is not natural it is supernatural. I think everyone believes in something . It is in the human soul to seek out all the knowlege in this life that he can because unanswered questions leave us feeling hopeless and out of control. Suicidal people are a prime example of lost hope. Your high standards are not like God's Try to love the unlovable an you will see .....Hope this helps

I don't know what kind of religiosity you get in your country, I can only say that Christ teaches to men to be free. Liberty is an important name of God. So a Christian MUST be free, 'cause on the contrary he is only a follower of a human rule. First God, second and eventually the church (if it is well).

Actually, you can't. Last I heard, evolution was just a theory, not a fact.

You can, however, still accept evolution as a valid possibility and still be Christian.

I believe in creation, then I believe that evolution kicked in. I don't know when this all happened, and I don't care.
