Christ is often spoken of as "Gentle Jesus, meek and mild," but that label hardly fits with the language we find in Mark chapter nine as He affirms the fact and reality of Hell. We read these strong statements:

And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed,
than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:
Where their worm dieth not,
and the fire is not quenched.
And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life,
than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:
Where their worm dieth not,
and the fire is not quenched.
And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye,
than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire:
Where their worm dieth not,
and the fire is not quenched.
-Mark 9:43-48

Hebrews 4:12 "For The WORD of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sward, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul, and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts, and intents of the heart."

Thank you Sister. God's WORD is true, Christ's WORD's are true. Hell is real weather fools, and intolerant hypocrites want to accept it or not. They will bow, there tongues will confess Jesus Christ is LORD. It will be too late !
Be blessed in Christ Jesus !

Jesus in no way went to church on sunday. He went on the Sabbath that's the seventh day of the week. we are to maintain the Sabbath holy and do no artwork. Nowhere has the Sabbath been replaced in the Bible by ability of God or by ability of Jesus. God in Genesis 2 created the seventh day for one purpose, to take a seat down back, no different reason, and that's the day that all people stored with the aid of the bible, the recent besides via fact the previous. guy replaced the day to Sunday not Jesus. think of roughly it, for Jesus to alter the day, He may be disobeying and telling others to disobey the father, and that could make Him a sinner, which might make His death on the go merely yet another death, which might go away us all destined for hell. Hebrews 4:8-For if Jesus had given them relax then might He not later on have spoken of yet another day. God gave us relax as spoken in Genesis 2, Nowhere in scripture will you come across Jesus asserting, it is the day you're able to save as Sabbath from now on.

Hell is real....unfortunately some people won't believe it until they are there...look at the story of the rich man and Lazarus. There are people who have been there and came back to life and written about it...Lord, guide the people who are willing to see, to those books and get a hold on there life and draw them to You. In Jesus name. Amen.

It would help if you, who is so apt to quote Bible verse, actually understood the words you hurl at others.

Hell is translated from three words: Sheol (Hebrew), hades (Greek) and Gehenna (Hebrew). The first two, Sheol and hades, are the most common and are literally translated as the common grave of mankind, or the ground. Both faithful King David and Job "lay down in Sheol" when they died- would they have gone to a fiery hell?? I don't think so! They were righteous men, so obviously they didn't meet eternal torture in Sheol, but rather nothingness.

The Bible tells us that the "dead are conscious of nothing." So if God sends wicked people to a fiery hell to punish them, how can they be conscious of it? They are dead, right? So if the Bible is telling us that dead people are unaware of anything, why bother sending them to eternal torment?

Now for Gehenna: in ancient Israel, Gehenna was a literal place outside the walls of Jerusalem where criminals unfit for burial were discarded and burned up- a very large garbage dump, if you will. Once a body went there, it was burned to nothingness, or eternal nonexistence. The ancient Jews who heard Jesus' words here at Mark would have understood that he was referencing the garbage dump outside the city, not a fiery hell. It simply meant everlasting cutting off, or absence of being.

Yes and when he's talking about these things being cut off it is to mean not literally but figuratively. As an arm or a foot is an extension of yourself. It is saying that if you are among unbelievers and you too are questioning your faith, you must cut the ties, as it is better to live without them (even if it's someone you dearly love and need, and consider an extension of yourself) than to follow in their footsteps.

At every now moment we are in heaven or hell. There is no inbetween - though most people exist in that never-never-land shuttling between the emotions of giddiness and despair - fearing that hell is a place of torment after death and heaven its opposite.

Believing that - as you do - makes you "tolerate" the world of duality, or good and bad around you, instead of doing something about it. Jesus was speaking of eternal personal torment that is the consequence of not seeking the Kingdom within. He came that we might have "life" more abundantly - heaven here. You were put here for a greater purpose than perpetuating nonsense and trying to frighten people into living silly little lives.

This is correct. The word "hell" used in this context is Gehenna which is eternal torment. He is quoting Isa 66:24,

“And they shall go forth and look Upon the corpses of the men Who have transgressed against Me. For their worm does not die, And their fire is not quenched. They shall be an abhorrence to all flesh.”

Chilling words! I breaks my heart to read the comments on this question.

Proverbs 7:25-27
Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths.
For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong men have been slain by her.
Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.
