I'm traveling to a new job soon and I'll live abroad for a year or two. I'd like to take extra luggage (and pay extra bag fees) so I have most of what I need with me. Has anyone traveled with a lot of bags lately? Are there carts readily available in airports (and while you move through customs) so a single person can transport several (4) bags? Any tips from recent travelers welcome.

I'll be traveling through major cities...and therefore international airports.

You haven't indicated which airports/citiesyou are travelling from and to, but most major cities have plenty of carts at curbside. With so many bags, I'd consider curbside check-in. It's now about $2/bag but a lot less stress.

In my recent international travels, the airports that I've travelled to had free carts available for people going through customs.

i suggest that you ship your "extra" baggage ahead of you. that way you don't have to fed ex them (very expensive).
