Del Amo Hospital treats eating disorders on an outpatient basis. That means you can quit anytime you want to.
Of course, if they encourage you to stay they only do so because they care.
Of course, if you are under 18 (or 16 in some states) and in someone elses custody (your parents) then only they can choose to take you out of the program.

Here is their website:

If you go to the upper right corner and search for "eating disorder" it will bring up calenders (showing information about the date you are scheduled for) and even experiences of some of the people who have successfully achieved their goals through the program.

Do whatever it takes to stick with it. Just because it says voluntary, you still need the help! If you think you cant do it, I would go with a treatment center that doesnt allow you to leave, that way you know for sure you are going to get better.

Just like alcohol, its addicting and just like alcohol theres relapses. Take care of yourself

Assuming you are an adult, if you enter the facility on your own, then you can leave on your own regardless of your treatment status PROVIDED you sign off the hospital from liabilities. Basically, you state, you are leaving against their advise and you'll accept all consequences.

The only way they can override you is, they believe you are causing harm to yourself or others. They will need a court order to stop you from leaving. Without court orders, they can stop you if they believe you are in IMMEDIATE threat to yourself or others. It usually means you are suicidal or might murder someone else.

If you are going to a treatment, stick with it. They are not going to force you that is unhealthy or harmful to your body. The whole reason you are going there in the first place is YOU are harming yourself. You are not likely to succeed if you are not committed to fix yourself. If you think, in back of your mind, you'll leave if the going gets tough, why even bother? Aren't you going because you couldn't do it by yourself?

I have two definitions of the word for you.
voluntary - done, given or made with ones own free will.
voluntary - done in accordance with the conscious will of the individual.
Used in a sentence. I made a voluntary choice to smile instead of frown.

As a voluntary patient you can leave when you choose. They may think you are a risk to yourself though and apply to have you sectioned for your own good. I hope you get better before that though. Good luck.

They can't force you to stay. But please go in with an open mind. Remember, they are there to help you. You can conquer your eating disorder if you listen to what they have to say and be willing to take it to heart. You are not a bad person trying to be good; you are a sick person trying to get well. Good luck to you.

Voluntary means you can leave the program if you want to. I'd recommend sticking through it, however. Good luck.

Voluntary is just that, voluntary.

You would have to check the rules in your state or ask them specifically-if you are so sick that you may die they may be able to keep you. But if that's the case I don't think you'd want to fight it.

Please go. No one deserves to have food and weight issues control their life.

yes you can leave unless they feel your are in extreeme danger of hurting yourself. Which I would say is a good thing if they make you stay at that point. Have you tried outpatient therapy first?
