Sure you can - but not much - only enough for a mild flavor. For Chicken stew, I would use a white wine. Red wine with beef stew.

course you can its called coq au vin and is a very famous French recipe using red wine and chicken traditionally the male bird and not the Hen, the French say to put some of the birds blood in as well to give extra flavour, cook it real slow for a fuller flavour.

You can, but I would recommend using red wines for beef stews and white wines for chicken stews.

Never use a wine that you wouldn't drink in any dish that is a golden rule but. I also would recommend white wine here because you are using chicken and not a stronger meat such as duck, goose, veal, beef or lamb. But it is whatever perks your taste buds.

i would rather put some white wine. it will work much better and not take away the colors you already have going on. plus white wine is much easier and better to cook with and it will give a rich taste to the chicken and the tomatoes.

I love to use some cheap wine in the stock. Look up how to make a rue (spelling) that supports wine.

You can, but the red wine will make the chicken pink, and it won't look done even when it is.

I do it all the time. Coq au Vin is made with red wine and chicken and so is chicken cacciatore and both are delicious.
