He also has a cough. He had a fever and headache a week ago, 4 days later came the cough, sore throat and diarrhoea and then the rash began 1 day ago with a little bit of vomiting. He has been back from Southern India for 3 weeks and had diarrhoea over there for about 5 days. He has seen a doctor but they don't know what it is, they have suggested it might be glandular fever. Do these symptoms sound familiar with anyone?

has he seen a specialist in exotic diseases? I read your description and immediately thought "scarlet fever", not something you see here in this country very often anymore, but frequently in third world countries. Your friend may also want to contact the CDC to check out his symptoms with them.

I am an alternative medicinal therapist an ex nurse. It could be meningitis, are his glands swollen in the neck and groin, if so it could be G/fever has he had a blood test, if not take him to the hospital and get this done FAST, you may be at risk. He could even have typhoid fever. i cannot stress enough the importance of getting medical treatment,if he has got an infectious disease everyone is at risk

http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk there may be info on there that can help.

If the GP thinks it may be glandular fever then they need to get testing and be serious about this. If the GP isnt being helpful either contact NHS direct, go see another GP or if really worried go straight to hospital.
