It doesn't prove the bible any more than evidence of New York proves the existence of Michael Corleone.

Good morning....King Herod was very well known for his time and not liked by all on what I have read. He would have been mentioned in the Holy Book mainly because he was the King at that time. This doesn't necessarily mean that the Holy Book is accurate on all counts. You have to remember that the Holy Book was like a journal about certain events that happened during Our Saviors Reign and about God Our Father, written down by men/followers so one could learn on the teachings and the accounts that took place. To make an example, look at the findings or the assumptions that Jesus was married to Mary Magdalena. That certainly wasn't written in the Bible or then again was it written and the scholars that chose what went in the Holy Book just deleted this part to where no one would ever know. It isn't so far fetched as it seems. Jesus was called a Rabbi in His time. Rabbi's I believed had to be married at a certain age. If this was the case, then why couldn't Jesus have been married? And why shouldn't it have been Mary? If you remember, it was Mary that saw Jesus first after His Resurrection, not Peter nor Luke or John but Mary. I'm not saying that the Bible isn't factual. I'm just trying to state that some of the writings have been omitted and not everything in it's rightful place. The Bible itself is a mystery. We weren't actually there in that time nor were we there when the scholars decided what to place in the Holy Book and what not to be placed. So what we do as Christians is to go on Faith and the assumption on what we have learned and was taught thru our Christain beliefs. The Holy Bible is a history book for us Christains. And we believe what we want to believe as Christains. Have a blessed day!

How does a guy dying 'prove' an imaginary person's existence.
There are many fictional tales that use historical names/characters in their literary work. Hardly makes it true. Look at 'The Da Vinci Code'. That and 'Holy Blood, Holy Grail' There are two books that mention numerous groups and people of the past but not many think everything is true, based on a few historically accurate statements.

So, they found a tomb they think might belong to King Herod. Big deal. If they found a tomb in Georgia that they think might belong to Rhett Butler, would that prove that Gone With the Wind is a work of nonfiction????

Now that is a conveniece of Christianity. Refuse to accept truth about the finding the tomb of Joseph and Mary. Refuse to accept the truth about the finding of the tomb of Jesus, his wife Mary Magadalene, and Judah (Jesus and Magdalene's second child), but claim that the tomb of Herod proves the truth about the Bible.

How convenient!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, you got us there. A proven historical figure actually lived once... You mean, that it's empty? You know how often graves were robbed, my freind? I know to you it seems like i'm grasping at straws here, but, honestly, people made professions out of robbing the tombs of big woopidy-doo figures.

I guess that means New York is proof of Spiderman. King Richard was proof of Robin Hood. etc.

If I write a book of fiction and put George Bush in it, does that make it true?
