Get fronline from the vet for mom and sit and pick the fleas off the puppies. If you can't keep fleas away from the babies do not let mom have anymore. Please be sure to get all of them spayed and neutered. Apparently you are realizing its not all wine and roses having stinking puppies.

You've got a lot of different answers here - some are incorrect, and some are downright stupid ('take the puppies away from the mom if they still have fleas'??? For God's sake!)

Please talk to your vet, as clearly answers on here cannot be trusted. You can get Frontline spray from your vet, this can be used on the mother, and puppies from 2 days of age.

There is never just one flea. You don't need to bath the pups - they don't always enjoy getting wet at this age, they can get too cold, and flea shampoos are not so effective. You need to treat all your animals and your house to prevent ending up with an infestation.

Just talk to your vet - they will probably recommend Frontline spray because this is the only thing sure to be safe on young pups.

If it's just one flea I wouldn't worry about it too much. If the fleas start to get too excessive, you will need to contact your veterinarian.

You can use frontline on momma dog, even if she is nursing. It is approved for use on pregnant and lactating dogs.

After the puppies are 8 weeks you can bathe them with Adams Flea & Tick Shampoo.

Please do NOT put ANY kind of flea treatment on those puppies!!! Vets will even tell you, as well as the packaging, that the stuff is NOT recommended for puppies younger than 8-12 weeks of age!

Treating the Mom with Frontline or Advantage will treat the puppies as they crawl on her and are around her. That is the ONLY safe way to treat them. If the puppies have fleas, they caught them from Mom anyway. =)

They shouldn't be bathed before 8 weeks old, preferably.

For now, try to manually kill any fleas you find on your puppies. If you feel like you need the help of a flea medication/shampoo, consult the vet, first.

Go to your local pet supermarket and ask them for a organic puppy wash, they have really cute ones that look like real baby shampoo's. I would ask if they have one that is safe for a puppy who is that young.

Maybe you should go to a pet store and get flea medicine.
