I think it is silly to believe that anyone doesn't look at other people. I know my boyfriend looks and so do I, our eyes work just fine. It doesn't mean that he doesn't love and respect me because he notices a beautiful woman or that I want to cheat because I notice a well built guy.
No harm done I say, it comes down to how much trust you have in the relationship. If you don't have trust than you will always be suspicious.

Mostly it is just a bad habit, kind of like trying to quit smoking or overeating. You know it is no good, disrespectful, and you should not do it, but it is not so easy to stop doing it. It takes 21 days to break a habit, and develop a new one.
The GF might also be okay with it, but has told him I don't want to see it.
There are also cases where the woman is so strikingly attractive it is hard not to look. Imagine driving past the grand canyon and your partner says do not look at the big hole in the ground, or being in the Louvre and walking past the Mona Lisa and being told don't look at the picture on the wall.
It may also be a case where he does it on purpose in front of his girlfriend playing on her insecurity. It is a way of telling her "You're not the only fish in the sea and I can do better than you, so act right to keep me around."

Rissa,
Good question!!!!!!!
Ya know, this has been my experience and I don't want to be in a relationship now because when the guy "looks", especially in front of his gf, shows a severe LACK of respect!!!!!!
For you GUYS out there who do that, take a good look in the mirror!
Some of them, (in my life) seem to think it's OK for them to "Gawk" at another girl, BUT, IF we even dare to do it back JUST to do it back, we never hear the END of it!!!!!
Those of you who do the "head turning" and are already in a relationship, it is at risk, SO, if ya wanna keep your head on your shoulders, keep it lookin' straight ahead!!!!!!!!
Thanks, "Riss!"

It is genetically wired into our brains on the most primal of levels. The brain is looking to insure the survival of the species, and that means finding a potential mate, which means looking.
Now our conscience and upper brain or rational thinking contradicts that.........but there is still a primal subconscious urge to scope out potential mates.
I am madly in love with my wife and don't want to be with another, but I catch my self looking at women and checking them out. It's not something I intend to do, I'll be daydreaming, and realize I am checking a woman out. When my brain kicks in, I correct the situation.......but it's subconscious.
For those who say it is out of a lack of respect, I must disagree, lack of respect would be doing it intentionally, and that I don't do.

I think all they want is to prove they are those so called PLAYERS,not!!! Those kind of guys that do that don't have feelings, and only care about them. But you know those kind of guys that do that, will someday find a girl that they will really like and then they will get paid back in the same way.

Yes we do! Do you buy a home then never look at another work of architecture?! God created beauty in everyone and to ignore it is a sin. Look and appreciate the myriad and bountiful greatness all around you! Just don't touch or you deserve a smack!

Not all men feel that need it's a little disrespectful. There's nothing wrong with the first look it's the second look that will get you in trouble. Have respect for your girl.

BECAUSE GUYS WHO DO LOOK AT OTHER GIRLS
WHILE THEY ARE WITH THEIR G/F'S HAVE NO
RESPECT FOR THEM. TRUE THAT THERE IS NO
HARM DONE, BUT THERE IS THAT LINE OF
BOUNDARIES. YOU DO NOT DISRESPECT YOUR
OTHER HALF WHILE THEY ARE NEXT TO YOU.
THAT IS THE BOTTOM LINE..............
