i cant afford a new or even used repair stand and truing tool. i built a bootleg truing stand from and old fork and use the brake pads as a reference point. it works but only for non-disc front wheels. the stand i have now is actually a storage rack and it scuffs up the underside of the toptube. i want something that clamps the seat post.
is it possible to build a nice looking, functional repair and truing stand? i am willing to spend a few dollars but no more than $50 for the whole project.

You can buy a Park tool bike clamp and mount it to something solid. it's not a bad solution. They are not cheap thought and may cost you more than $50.

yeah... its vary hard though, id sugest getting a jack and a block of wood. put the block of wood on the jack and put it up.
it goes infrot of the back wheel. there should be like a base thing. this is the only thing ive been able to come up with. its prety hard.
