No the dog is just trying to say enough is enough. You do the same to your children sometimes when you scold them but that does not mean that you would ever hurt them beyond, dare I say a slap on the butt. My dog growls sometimes as well but my kids have put her through hell. they fall on her when she is sleeping, step on her tail all kinds of things. the dog probably feels a responsibility to guard the children and cares about them. With this in mind. Dogs may think they are above the children. You have to show the dog that in the family unit he is last. You are the pack leader and the wife and kids go in that order down to the dog. You have to enforce this once in a while meybe by giving food to the kids and than the dog. (I do this with ice cream)Try to let the dog know that you care about him by not totally ignoring the dog when the kids are around. the dog wants to be part of the "pack" not seperated. It would be a shame to put him out. Be carefull about types of dogs that tend to be agressive. Obviously Pitt bull's and Rottweilers but I have to tell you usually the dog is acting the way he thinks you want him to act. Most aggressive dogs are made to fight and so they think they should do that. If you scold the dog when he growls at the children he should get the idea. Some dogs are not so smart. Collies and Poodles learn quickly. Irish setters take forever. Females are a little more maternal. That is why I have a female Collie from the pound. Even she gets a little growl here and there and she is as good a dog as you can get. I would suggest just keeping an eye on the kids and not letting them pounce on the dog too much, meybe only 50 times. If the growl was an extended growl say 5 or 6 seconds not just a short burst and if the dog is over 60 pounds and the children under 30 I would probably think of some type of seperation when you are not around and close by. Just as a precaution. T

What kind of person are you anyway????
I hope you got onto your kid for pulling the dog's ears and tail!!!
Are you saying you stood by and let that kid hit the dog 100 times????
If so this dog would be much better off if it had a family that loved it!!
I can't believe the poor dog just growled at this kid!!!!!!
What are you going to do to your kid if he does something bad?? Put the kid outside and just throw it some food and water????????
No dog deserves to be put outside and just thrown a bowl of food and water nor treated the way your kid treated this dog!!!!!!. If you are going to do that then call your Humane Society and they will find a nice loving family for this poor dog.
You know there are laws against people that mistreat animals. Letting a child hit, kick, bite, pull or what ever else they can think of . People have gone to jail for these things!!
You do not need a dog!!!

Oh expensive, it really is amazingly somewhat a properly-beloved and incorrect theory of docking and cropping, which hasn't been finished in the united kingdom for see you later as i have been round canines, and earlier and which I surely do not believe, or like. In a number of the sharper breeds, it would look ok, yet for me, I a lot choose the comfortable head of the uncropped tremendous Dane, as an get jointly. Ears are cropped, no longer docked by the fashion and definite, finished even as the domestic dog is older and is composed of unnecessary for me, surgical treatment. Docking on the different hand, became consistently finished for a reason. The operating canines, spaniels etc. were habitually docked to sidestep tail harm which as adults ought to propose amputation, below a ordinary anaesthetic. because it really is, docking became consistently finished at in hassle-free words days previous, even as there aren't any nerve endings and the in hassle-free words soreness, quickly, a domestic dog ought to experience is being confined. worry is, too many unprofessional human beings were doing this technique, oftentimes no longer in sterile situations and there have been some horrendous injuries considered. it really is why the RSPCA stepped in and led to it to be stopped. in my opinion even with the actual shown truth that I choose a organic ear, so no cropping, I hate the look of the completed tail on a number of the faster docked breeds. each and each and every to their very personal, yet merely to say your perceptions are particularly ott. and with appreciate, a touch sick-suggested rant.

You are joking right?
If one of your kids kicked the other then the other did it back would he be untrustworthy? Animals have to protect themselves ya know. People like you shouldn't have pets.
I know this is a wind up question but it still gets me annoyed lol.
Do you have an utterly boring life or something?

You would growl too if it were you being hit.
No child should ever be allowed to hit a pet.
Question.
Did this really happen or are you just trying to get people upset because you know this is wrong?

NO DO NOT DO THAT! That is abusing ur dog and the only reason he is growling is because ur son hit him and abused him now im sorry but if i was that dog i would of attaked your son because would you want to be hit and pulled on? I didnt think so! So you either have to punish your son or sell your dog! Because it is unexeptable for your son to be beating your dog! So this is mostly between your son and you!

I agree with Maraurer, get a new kid. Sounds like you are both idiots and need to enter in a mental institution.
