You mean there was an actual King Herod? You mean Josephus' historical account was actually correct? Then that means there was a Pontius Pilate. (The Bible says Herod sent someone to see Pilate.) That places Jesus, Herod and Pilate around the same point in history. Wait a minute! Didn't the Bible say that? Surprise, surprise. Oh, did you know that arcaeologists also recently uncovered the actual walls of a city called Jericho?

Gives credibility to some, but voids others. The bible has a probability of getting some things right, a lot of aspects such as King Herod were common enough knowledge to have been included without much contradiction... However via history and archeology we know that some accounts (such as King Herod's slaughter of innocent sons or there being Jewish slaves in Egypt) are completely false. So the bible is right in some general instances, but more often than not (and most often in specific cases) it's completely wrong.

I think it means they have found the tomb of Herod the Great ... a man whose actual existence has never been questioned.
And?

I think that this is only to be expected as lots of historical truth comes from the Bible, people forget that it is very difficult to find ancient buildings etc, as excavations have to go very deep indeed and even locating the actual spot is most difficult, I will await what findings come from this site.

They found King Tut's tomb about 80 years ago, also.
I guess Ra was right.
But seriously... that's neat and all... but uh, did anyone ever like... doubt the existence of Herod?

They think it was Herod's, there's still some uncertainty (at least as I read it). Either way, I think it will be an important find.

It's very exciting. I can't wait to read a complete account of it in Biblical Archeology Review.

They found proof of Alexander the Great AND his father!
I guess we'd better apologize to Zeus and hope that Heracles isn't too ticked at us for following a false god all of these years.

Neat.
But I agree with the others that if we believe that somehow proves God, then we better start believing in Zues and Ra and company.
