And if he died for our sins, does that mean we can sin our asses off with a "Get out of hell Free" card, so to speak? That seems to be what those catholic priests who are diddling all those young boys are thinking.

I decided Jesus is MY Lord and Savior. I used the free will God gave me. No, it does not mean you have a get out of Hell free card. Salvation is not a thing that makes us able to act like animals. If a person is truly saved they strive to NOT do the things that would send them to Hell. We dont want to do the things that end in Hell. But we are after all only human and will fall. And no that is not an excuse. its an explanation. We have grace to help us at those times. We strive to live a life that exemplifies Jesus'. Nobody can live a sin-free life. If that was possible Jesus wouldn't have had to die as a scarifice.

Man decided. As for the get out of hell free card, first you have to believe in hell and then I have no idea the rest of it, but I am betting you have to be sorry at the very least.
I have no idea what went on 2000 years ago so I am not going to speculate. Do I think Jesus was divine? No more or less then the rest of us. I think we all have a spark of it. I have no idea what Jesus thought he was. There are conflicting documents on that. It all boils down to what you believe.

Except for the Catholics and Christian churches not even the GOD who created heaven and earth declared that he is the Lord and Saviour.
Deuteronomy 24:16,
Ezekiel 18:3-26,
Jeremiah 31:29-30
All of the above say that God already declared long before Jesus time that those who sin shall be charged accordingly.
God does not not change His mind forever.
Jesus myth is a devil's deception.

Jesus, himself, claimed to be the Messiah.

As for being able to "sin our asses off" with a "get out of hell free card,..."

God said in the bible, "As surely as I live, says the Lord, EVERY knee will bow before me, EVERY tongue will confess to God."

The bible also says, "...for we will ALL stand before God's judgement seat," and "so, then, we will ALL give an account of ourselves to God."

No exception for priests, or for Christians.

Salvation is not a get out of hell free card, as you put it. To be forgiven one has to truly repent and not continue in the sin. Jesus knows the sincerity of our hearts.

Who Decided? God.

Can we sin freely and have a get-out-of-hell-free card? NO.

Why would you actually WANT to sin anyway? "Sin," by definition, is a MISTAKE. If someone went out and led a life of constant and purposeful mistakes, just because God would help them correct them, I would question their sanity. That's like going out and purposely developing a heroine addiction because you can get free rehab.

The Nicean Council decided this.

Blessings,

Added: In response to Privratnik; Jesus proclaimed himself to me a Messiah (which means "Anointed One" and there have been others in history, to include Moses). He never proclaimed himself to be the son of God. Then Jesus was asked if he was the Son of God his response was basically "That's what you say."

Blessings,

I believe God the Father made that decision.

And while, theoretically, we could sin our buns off with a "Get out of hell free" card, that doesn't very well represent a strong relationship with God.

Ummmm, a bunch of guys in the Vatican that wear dresses?

Okay, it's a personal thing, but most people have that idea drummed into them until they believe it, so they can go around telling others.

Rumor is you will be forgiven, but the level of forgiveness is arbitrary.

Remember the angels at the birth of Christ that said, "for unto you is born a savior who shall be Christ the Lord?
