I don't know of any phrases like 'popped the cherry' (actually, that one is used on men too, even though it doesn't really apply as well) but yes, it is appropriate to say a man lost his virginity.

It depends on what your concept of virginity is. As it is commonly understood by most people, yes. Men can lose their virginity.

NO. Or depends on the concept. You see women can even lost virginity (break the hymen) without actually having sex. But still maiden.

Well, the term when applied to women describes the breaking of the hymen. As applied to men, having sexual intercourse. So yes, men can lose it, although it is different for each sex.

I think when you really pump someone that you have lost it for a guy, none of this wondering if it is in or not, once you have had sex you will know.

Sure. If they have sex. But there is no physical way to tell. It is more of a mental thing as there is no evidence.
