How long have you been tithing? Has God kept his word to you in Malachie 3:10? How long after you decided to tithe you started to see the result? Strictly financial blessings. Don't tell me your car is never broken or you never got sick. Unbelievers who never tithe can experience these things. I really want to know because the last thing I'd want to do is to keep giving my money to a church that doesn't even care about you but ur $$.

I understand the worry, I am a student and money is hard to come by. This is my rule though, if I only have a little extra to give and it’s given for God then it doesn’t matter what the money is used for because God only sees that you gave. I don’t tithe, however I always always give money to those who look like it is needed, even if it is only a dollar that I have to spare. Its kind of like passing a bum on the street, even though you don’t know where that money is going, God sees your kindness, and who knows maybe He touched that person’s life through your kindness.
Since I have had that out look, the people my husband and I have given money have passed on the kindness to others and have helped us when we needed it.
When you tithe or give for God you shouldn’t seek the results, you should do it out of the kindness in your heart and then you will see the results.

I used to pay 10% tithing to the LDS/Mormon church.
Then I became poor, homeless, and jobless. The church then paid for my rent and food and after a little while I was back on my feet. Without the churches help I don't know where I would be. The LDS church also does not pay anyone, everyone recieves a calling which they do not get paid for including the prophet.
I am ex-LDs/mormon btw.

I've been paying tithing (10%) on my income plus offerings to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for my entire life of 47 years. I've been blessed in many ways including financial and have no doubt in God's promise in Malachi.

However, I think it's myopic to only consider financial blessings. God will bless us in ways that are best for us. Tithing is an act of faith, a commitment to put God first in your life, and the act itself helps keep your life in proper order.

The page cited below gives a good description of the law of tithing. Note that local leaders all serve voluntarily with no compensation. Tithing is used for things like building meeting houses and temples.

We have been Tithing for 3 years and God has NEVER let us down. There has been times that we couldn't afford our bills and it was tempting not to tithe...but we still did and God ALWAYS came through and we have never gone without...I have many more stories about how God came through.....don't give up on tithing it belongs to God anyway!

You know, there are intangible things that come from being a giver. Tithing is the declaration of dependence on God. But whatever we give, we should give generously and cheerfully, not grudgingly. Not of necessity, like the Scripture says. Don't allow people to coerce you into giving something that you haven't already purposed in your heart to give.

I have been tithing for years, but only out of joyful obedience. I feel that churchs who demand their "monthly" dues are wrong. The church I go to has never expected anything. you just give from your heart. if you can't tithe.....that's between you and God.

if your church does expect a weekly or monthy tithe, I would question their motive. good luck.

I used to, and I probably would again, but what gets me is all the big emphasis I have seen on money.
I for one do not believe tithing is a "law" for the Christian.
What other Jewish laws would the pastors put us under?
That is what it is...a law given to the Jews.
Putting it into perspective, a good study of stewardship clears it up. But I HATE when the emphasis is on your money.
As far as financial blessings, it happened sometimes for me, but usually it came as an intangible one, always for growth.

I give 10%.....

After all, 100% of it is God's so....

He's actually letting us keep 90% of His money.

And believe me.......He blesses it....somehow. He has sustained my wife and I through some thin times.....and we love Him.
