Let's examine the signs of depression, shall we?

Sadness throughout the day, nearly every day: God probably feels sad because we're all so unworthy. God shows this sign of depression.

Loss of interest in or enjoyment of your favorite activities: He's not smiting, as you so graciously pointed out. God shows this sign of depression.

Feelings of emptiness or hopelessness: Well, he can't drown us all in a flood again because he promised so he can only watch how sinful we are. God shows this sign of depression.

Feeling stressed, nervous, or overwhelmed: I can only imagine with the increased population that this is true. All of those prayer requests daily? Egads! God shows this sign of depression.

Trouble concentrating or making decisions: Well, he's not even answer yes, no or wait too much anymore. God shows this sign of depression.

Feelings of worthlessness: Low self-esteem most likely. That's why we must have no god before him. God shows this sign of depression.

Excessive or inappropriate feelings of guilt: We were made in his image...maybe that's why there is sin. God shows this sign of depression.

Irritability or restlessness: I think this speaks for itself in the old testament. God shows this sign of depression.

Thoughts of death or suicide: Only our death, but he is fixated on it throughout the bible. God shows this sign of depression.

By george, you're right!!!

That smiting is now handled by lower level functionaries, deluded folk and the princes of religion. They don't do it as much any longer either, most likely because of democracy and secular constraints. Paxil might help that depression, however i doubt if it can cure delusion. Thanks for asking though.

56,000 people wiped out in The 26 December 2004 tsunami. Nah, he's still into smiting if you ask me. Not sure why but I'm sure he has his reasons right?
