I just woke up this morning and when I spit into my sink, I noticed a some blood was in there. What could be happening to me?

BTW, I had an energy drink last night if that matters.

At first there was a lot, now when I spit out, there's no more blood, but when I hack it out like phlegm, there's still a little bit of blood.

I think you should go to your Dr's to get checked out

It could be as simple as having a minor nose bleed in your sleep and the blood went down instead of out that can happen if the bleed is in the back of the nose.

It could be from your lungs a sign that something is going on.

or it could be from your swallowing tube and you have an irritation or you ruptured a Sm vessel.

Now how fast you go to the Dr is depending on the following
are you light headed dizzy when you get up from a seated position. Do you have a headache that will not go away

Are you going often to the toilet and it is black tarry

Are you vomiting up either frank blood (bright red) or something that looks like coffee grinds

Has your tummy puffed out today or in the last couple of days

Is your tummy hard to touch (not muscles)

Are you having tummy pain.

If you say yes to any of these go to the ER if not make an appointment with your reg DR. in the next couple of days it could be nothing but why take that chance there could be an under lying problem

The energy drink doesn't matter.
It matters how much blood do you spit. If there is very very little amount of blood, you probably have a pharyngitis, a bronchitis, or something in your mouth or nose that's bleeding and, if this is the only time and it never comes back, you have nothing to worry about. If there is a lot of blood, you may have a more serious condition, like tuberculosis or even lung cancer and if you spit blood again you should see a doctor right away.

Do you have allergies, sometimes the nasal passages are irritated and bleed so when you sleep it drips into your throat, so as a result when you wake and spit up the blood will show(usually tinged brown). Or if you continue to spit bright red blood you need to see a MD asap could be a number of lung problems.

I would not think the energy drink has any bearing on the blood. You should not cough up blood when in good health....see a doctor ASAP.

Probably just a scrape in your mouth but if it's still happening in a day or two, go to the doctor.
