I'v always heard from my X-family ans others that had family members in the mason's that many years after joining they discovered that the masons roots were of pure evil. Even there symbols are of the beast and the beast number (666). They have many secrets, even secret hand shakes and ways of walking to help them pin point there own kind. Is this really true or is this just another one of those religions bashing religions incidents? I've also heard that once you join you can never leave or you will end up having a fatal accident... if you know what I mean...

There is no evil in the symbology of Freemasonry, the only time people find evil is when they put their own meanings to things, mis-understand something or simply believe what they are told it all means.

There is no masonic symbol relating to the "beast" or to "666" in Freemasonry.

Freemasonry has very few secrets, which amount to the modes of recognition and that is it. A sign, token and word for each of the three degrees, thats it, that is all that is secret. What needs to be understood though, and anyone who knows how to google will confirm, these things are not secret and it is not the content of our secrets which is important, but the moral value of keeping a secret.

There is no problem with leaving Freemasonry if you choose to, my father did. As much as he liked the fraternal aspect, he didn't like the ceremony, which is a big part of Freemasonry, so he left. He's still alive and kicking, no worse for wear.

The stories of "accidents" "evil" "satanism" etc are all in the imaginations of the paranoid, fuelled by misunderstanding and mis-interpretation. In example, the satanism claims come from a paragraph in a book which mentioned Lucifer. Now in the western world, which is wholly Christianised Lucifer conjurs images of horns, pitch forks, the devil/satan so anyone reading this passage automatically presumes satanism. The educated man, a person who understands or wishes to, will know that Freemasonry is about the liberal arts and sciences, one of those sciences being Astronomy, and any learned Astronomer will also tell you the name Lucifer comes from the translation of the Greek name for Venus, Oh my gosh, not a little red horned man sitting on a throne of fire, but a planet, whos orbit and location in the sky is also the origin of the pentagram also assigned to "evil" by the west. (if you look through my previous answers there is a more indepth look at this).

If you look to who first assigned, and continue to teach, these things you will find the organisation at fault did it on purpose to aid in their own attempts to conquer the world in the realms of religious supremecy!

Really, that is urban legend. The Masons do good work, and any of their "secrets" have been thoroughly debunked in various books on the subject.

Did you know that many of the founding fathers (George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin) were Masons? They were men of honor who helped build our country.

Sounds silly to me. It's a bunch of old guys in funny hats.

Yes, they have secret hand shakes. This stems from the early days when they were a trade guild in the middle ages.

No there is not. But according to conspiracy theory logic, if I deny this I must be a part of the conspiracy or a cover up! You may never know.
