Hi
You did not say where 'locally' is but maybe these things are available:
* cream cheese (a good thick layer of it on both halves) and smoked salmon; if you don't live near a deli, I am sure you can find it in a tin; if it is packed in oil, you may want to pat most of the oil off with paper towels
* cream cheese and chives or scallion (use some of the green parts, also) - or other flavored spreads
* toasted with butter; good with your morning coffee ... and the same goes for a plain bagel with cream cheese ... where I live (New York) 1/2" of cream cheese is what is wanted!! Also for breakfast, I like Swiss on an untoasted sesame bagel with butter
* you can also make bagel chips of whole bagels: slice them straight across or on the diagonal ......then: put them on a plain baking sheet and toast them in the oven ... do in an oven preheated to 350'F for
about 6 minutes each side ....cool, store (a good business idea!)... nice for parties, snacks, picnics ...
* also there are recipes online for flavored chips ....
1 Garlic & Herb Bagel Chips :
recipezaar.com
2 Crunchy Bagel Chips -
allrecipes.com
p.s. some microwaves turn bagels to cement, so beware ...

Shrimp Salad Bagels
INGREDIENTS
1 (3 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
3 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon dill weed
1 (6 ounce) can small shrimp, rinsed and drained
2 bagels, split and toasted
1/4 cup shredded Swiss cheese
DIRECTIONS
In a bowl, combine cream cheese, mayonnaise, lemon juice and dill. Stir in the shrimp; spread over bagels. Microwave, uncovered, on high for 1-1/2 to 2 minutes or broil 4 in. from the heat until hot and bubbly. Sprinkle with Swiss cheese.
Or make chicken salad, egg salad and put on bagels. We even make some ham and cheese sandwiches on bagels. Or make mini pizzas with plain bagels instead of english muffins.

Daniel R is right. Bagels and bacon? Now that's real fusion cuisine.
How about a nice sharp cream cheese with maybe some added chopped chives or crushed black pepper?
Is it absolutely necessary to put the entire contents of your fridge's salad/vegetable drawer on the small surface of a bagel? Keep it simple and honest!
You could try a glass of chilled rosé, if it's not breakfast time.

For regular or Egg bagles, nuke 2 or 3 strips of Bacon until crips. Pop the bagels in the toaster. When they come out, add cream cheese and the bacon. Not exactly Kosher, but a hit with everyone!

I'm sorry, but to the two answers above - bagels are originally a Jewish dish, it is just wrong to serve them with bacon!
The best filling for bagels is smoked salmon and cream cheese.

Sweet bagels, I love to use chocolate-hazlenut spread and slice up a banana on top. Also mascarpone cheese and strawberries is good too.
Try cream cheese and finely chopped corriander or dill.
