I make this all the time and it super good.---

I box spiral pasta
1 to cup italian salad dressing ( not creamy)
1 green bell pepper ( diced)
1 cup mushrooms ( sliced or diced, doesnt matter)
1/4 cup canned black olives ( I buy the already sliced kind)
1/2 cup of shredded Parmesan cheese
Onions are optional.

Cook pasta, let cool
Add all ingredients... a little more than 1 cup of dressing may be needed.. just make sure everything is coated. And you can give or take away more veggies if you think it's needed, or add something that I left out.. thats whats good about this salad, you can add anything.
Mix everything together and chill in fridge for at least 1-2 hours before party. Its really good, and wayyy easy.

A nice Greek Pasta dish would be good since it's a vinagrette dish. Boil your pasta (noodles or spagetti) and then use Greek Salad Vinagrette Dressing,1/2 c. should be enough for a lot of pasta...but feel free to add a bit more if you like (you can buy this in the salad dressing aisle). Then cut up a cucumber and tomoate in chunks and toss in. Add black olives if you like them. And finally crumble some feta cheese on top. Since there is no mayonaise, it's the perfect pasta salad for a hot summer day, much safer to eat.

At a baby shower there are some fun games played, gifts are opened and you eat, eat eat!!

A good gift, if it's a first child, is sleepers..but sizes 6-12 months since everyone will give newborn sizes and they don't wear that size for long. A new mom can't have too many sleepers since baby's mess them at least 3 times a day and need to be changed that often. Little outfits may be cute, but sleepers are where it's at!

Have fun!

Baby showers are a celebration of mom and the new baby....and each one is different. Typically you mingle for a bit, eat some food, play some baby-themed games, open some presents, and then have dessert!! That's the USUAL schedule, anyway! They are fun....especially if you know a fair amount of the people that will be there!

As far as a gift....consider a custom diaper cake for your friend. Diaper cakes are inedible crations that are made to look like tiered wedding cakes....but are, instead, made with diapers, blankets, plush animals, and neccesities the new family will need!

I make these diaper cakes....and a little 2-tier cake with a custom onesie (So Much Love for Hailey...insert CORRECT name) a coordinating plush topper, some great receivign blankets, etc would be a gift that was TALKED ABOUT at this shower. You would surely get the conversations going with that!!

I am putting a link to my site below.....Don't worry too much about the shower. Bring a great pasta salad, a great gift and then just HAVE FUN!!

When the chicken is chilled remove the skin and cut the meat from the bones. Dice the meat and place it in a large bowl. Add the walnuts, raisins, and celery and mix well. Moisten the salad with the curry dressing. Cut the croissants in half. Fill each with chicken salad and serve.

Facts You Should Know About Baby Shower Etiquette

Take the wishes of the mom-to-be into account at every stage. That includes the games, food, invitation list and all other aspects of the baby shower.

You can have baby showers either before or after the baby is born. Generally, they're held 1 or 2 months before due date. But they're also held after baby arrives because of medical or other reasons.

These days, it is perfectly ok for a close relative or even the couple themselves to host a shower. Those "rules" about only non-relatives hosting a baby shower are quite dated now.

Before deciding on the kind of baby shower you plan to have -- girls-only or coed, theme or no theme and so on -- consult mom-to-be and find out what she prefers.

Who can be invited? Generally, anyone the mom-to-be feels she should call. She's the best guide here.

Do you always need to send written baby shower invitations? It is usually the better choice. With a written invitation, guests have all details at their fingertips and need not rely on memory. Plus, you can (and usually should) include directions on how to get there.

At the same time, it is fine to just inform people on the phone. Do tell them well in advance, though. So they have enough time to buy gifts, arrange for a baby sitter, etc. And leave your contact numbers with them so they can reach you easily if they need any clarifications.

Can you hold a surprise shower? Sure. It can be a wonderful feeling for the expectant mother. But do consult someone close to her (mother, sister, etc) to know about her likely preferences in all areas.

Good old fashion spaghetti salad or a tuna macaroni salad! Never can go wrong with those two. Very classic and very yummy!

As for the rest of your question (which I clearly did not read all the way through - got stopped up by the food ! =D )

Baby showers are a celebration of the mom and the new arrival. We give showers to help the parents with the load a new baby can cost financially. (Takes a village to raise a child!) There is generally a lot of mingling going on really. Then you eat lunch, maybe play a few games - baby oriented - and then it's time for mom to open all her gifts.

Anything you buy off the registry is appropriate. Depends on how close you are to mom on to what price range you'll go. If you already know what baby's gender is or name, you can start with a personalized gift! Those are thoughtful. Lots of stores make personalized blankets or picture frames. I received a gift from someone for my shower that was so handy and continues to be so (my son is 6)! Everyone knew we were having a boy and what is name was and my friend gave me a piece of luggage (from Pottery Barn Kids) with his name embroidered on it. I loved it and my son does too. Now he can go to Grandma's house with his own bag!

Good luck and have fun!

This dish is great!
you'll need 2 celery stalks, 1 cucumber
2 carrots,1/2 bell pepper,1/2 red onion, 1sm. box macaroni.
cook macaroni according to box directions (I sometimes use the mac out of mac & cheese it is perfect size & amount)
while the macoroni cooks wash & dice veggies into small pieces. when mac is done rinse in cold water and add to veggies in large bowl. Mix together with a combination of 3 Tbls sugar, 1/2 cup mayo and 1/2 cup bottles itilian dressing, salt and pepper taste.

A baby shower is usually casual with games, food and lots of FUN!

You can buy anything needed for a new baby. Diapers are a NO Fail gift, you can never have to many, I like to get some little something (ex.color book, crayons) for syblings of the new baby so they don't feel left out, I also like to pick up a small something for the mother to be (ex. candle or bath salts)

A cold pasta salad is definitely a good option.

The pasta of your choice, fresh summer veggies, and italian dressing.

You could also do a cold redskin potato salad.

The key is to remember it's summer so you want something light.

As far as what goes on, there are usually games and a lot of talking, lol. As far as what to bring, the parents should have a baby registry and hopefully it is on the invite. If not, ask if they are registered (Target, Babies r Us, etc.)

--- I wouldn't recommend tuna or anything with a lot of dairy as you may not be able to maintain safe temperatures on the food.

I need more details. Desert, appetizer, main...? I make this awesome pork roast if you want a main: Marinate overnight in olive oil, red wine, soy sauce and stud with garlic. Next day just cook it and serve with rice. Cold salad: greens with crumbled blue cheese, almonds, dried cranberries, sliced baby cucumbers with a balsamic vinaigrette. Another cold dish: Take Uncle Ben's wild rice and cook it. Let cool, mix with a can of white shoepeg corn, chopped cucumbers. Then mix with a dressing made of garlic, olive oil and lemon juice. Let sit for a few hours in fridge then top with toasted sunflower seeds. I don't know why but this is an awesome recipe. appetizer: Baby rye rounds spread with cream cheese mixed with dry Good Seasons dressing. Then slice cucumbers on. That's an oldie but goodie... desert: dump cake, maybe? Or there is this recipe where you make a brownie dump cake in a crockpot, cook it for a few hours and then serve it with vanilla ice cream. God, it tastes like a chocolate volcano cake.

This can be served cold and it's very good...

Taco Salad

Quick and easy to prepare. Leftovers can be packed in hot and cold containers for tomorrow's lunch or freeze meat mixture, reheat, and serve with fresh made salad.

Ingredients
1 Head lettuce,or spinach leaves cut into bite-sized pieces
1 Tomato,diced
1 Cucumber,diced
1 Broccoli crown,bite-sized
1 Carrot,shredded or diced
3 Diced celery stalks
1 Small onion,diced
1/2 Green pepper,diced
Any salad vegetables,cut-up
1 lb. Lean ground beef
1 pkg. Taco seasoning
1 lb. Cheese,grated
2- 16 oz. Cans kidney beans
1 Large bag Doritos or tortilla chips
Salad dressing, if preferred.
1 jar Salsa

Preparation
Brown ground beef & drain well. Place in non-stick sauce pan, add taco seasoning, and kidney beans. Cook on medium heat 10 minutes,or until liquid is reduced by half, stirring occasionally to make sure beans do not stick.

Prepare and toss salad ingredients while taco mixture is cooking. Place grated cheese in serving bowl with spoon.

You can put either the salad or meat mixture first in individual serving bowls, place cheese on top of meat mixture, and add crumbled Doritos. Place salsa on top of it all.
