Of course they should claim it!!
They've spent all that time contributing into it, it makes no difference where they are, they should be entitled to it.
That's like saying if you work for a British firm, you can only buy British to keep the money in the country. What happens when you go abroad on holiday? Can't you spend your money over there, or would that be not allowed too?
I'm all for supporting the British economy, but sometimes things just have to be bought from somewhere else.
Silly question...if someone has paid into a pension, they should be allowed to claim their money no matter where in the world they are. It's their money!!!!!!!!!

No. Many Brits leave the country when they retire because the cost of living in the UK is too high to live here on a pension. The better solution would be to deal with the corruption in the pensions industry (thus restoring confidence and then people would save more), and increasing the basic pension. People then could stay in the country when they retire (not that I would want to be surrounded by the knuckle-dragging thugs and binge drinkers when I am 70, but maybe somebody will want too).

Of course its right that they claim there pension. They spent there lives paying into the system out of money they earnt here in the first place. A much better question should be is it right that foreigners living here for only a few years can claim a pension despite not paying into it

In my view it is perfectly acceptable for people to claim their pensions when living abroad. The welfare state was set up with the basic principle being that one pays in when one can and gets the benefit of it when one needs to, i.e. when you retire. It never said anything about having to remain resident.

Well they paid their taxes and national insurance, its their money that went into it, not yours or mine.
Although I was led to believe that a state pension was actually forfeited if you lived abroad, I could be mistaken though.
