British governments come and go.

Some will appease more than others. This particular one has chosen to appease.

It is only when Governments appease that terrorists seem to get some reward for its actions.

In a perfect World, there wouldn't be no deals or terrorists. But unfortunately it isn't a perfect World. We are caught in a cycle of violence and retribution which ends up with innocent people getting caught in the middle. You would think that governments would learn the lessons of Northern Ireland and the Soviet/Afghan war. But they never do. At some time though, someone has to say enough. You may not forgive or forget but lay down the Arms of violence to end the cycle. Otherwise just more people will suffer and it won't be those who are responsible for it. Nobody wins. Let the violence end and eventually there will come a time when the hatred and antagonisms will cease and you'll be able to unite your country in harmony.

Who is to say what is terrorism and who is not. To use quote: ' One's terrorist is another's freedom fighter.' Terrorism involves indiscriminate killing of civilians and attacking of non-military targets as prime targets in achieving its goals. And as such has been around for many centuries. Your problem is as old, humans do not forget and often must not forget, but must learn to live with it in order to maintain peace. Your only consolation might be the fact that the other side lost its loved ones too. And they (meaning terrorists) are human too.

If you believe that only one side, was responsible, for the killing and terrorism, you are either completely biased, or a complete Idiot.
The choice is between, keep on killing, or let's get round a table and see if we can sort this out.
If you can not accept the second option, you are part of the problem in Ulster.

If Britain had not invaded, then occupied, Ireland, there would never have been a need for Irish paramilitaries.

If Britain had not put planters in Ireland to sow dissension and lord over Catholics, there would never have been a need for Irish paramilitaries.

If the loyalists had given us our rights in the 1960s, there would have been no RA.

The RA and other Irish paramilitaries are a response to Britain's brutal policies - so please, put the blame where is should be - on the oppressors, not the oppressed.

Most countries say they won't negotiate with terrorists. It's the same in Iraq... the US gov't doesn't negotiate for the release of POWs. We do our best to find them and free them, but we don't go around saying "Here's a ton of money... let our guys go"

That may be what this government says but Blair's actions show a different policy just look at the recent situation in Iran. Read this http://bestnewsfirst.blogspot.com/2007/04/iranian-hostages-will-be-released-as.html Maybe Blair doesn't negotiate... he just gives way.

Western Govts, including the UK think that they can distinguish between 'good' terrorists and 'bad' terrorists.

Terrorists are murderers, whether they are the IRA, PLO, Ahmed Jibril, Hamas, etc etc etc, or the sovereign states which back them.

If they would get that into their fat heads, they could get their act together better to combat them.

OK Mucky?

Terrorism doesnt pay. they got to where they are through political processes not bombs. If they'd started with politics instead of bombs we would have got to this point to, albeit on a different path.

Terrorism doesn't pay but it costs innocent people their lives.

You are right to forgive, but never forget those that lots their lives.
