Many people get polyps of the bowel and as long as they are 'benign' there is no problem. However as to why the Doc removed a node, I do not know.

A polyp is a mucosal growth within the bowl.
A node is a Lymph node that is usually excised from the draining lymphatics of that area for biopsy purpose.
