In this question I was simply stating that an atheist, being someone who has no belief in a higher power, ergo has no ambition to raise its own consciousness to become something eternal, divine or either to appreciate entities that have.

Remember the only truth is the one you believe in.

The concepts of heaven / hell likewise God and the Devil / are subjective. However the ontological argument states that if a concept exists in the minds eye, it may be a possibility within reality.

I apologise to Atheists out there. I just think that if you don't believe the possibility of a divine, eternal omniscient being you may be limiting your options of becoming like it.

The bible says that man were made in the image of God. This statement should be enough to give any man hope as well as a relationship with our eternal father (imagine all time as one millisecond of thought and viewed as one) so that he/she/it/ (even good dogs go to heaven) may truly appreciate the majesty of its creation.

This was meant as a statement for discussion. Not bigoted pejorative value judging remarks about the statement. It was a statement meant to encourage exploration of the simple issue of an Adonai type of deity in which, one day, through combined belief the human race would speak as one in peace and harmony. (Preferably in which statements made would not be referred to so blithely as "stupid".)

If thinking about that statement made by Father Guido - (page 2) (whom I doubt is ordained at all) - I would like to point out the valuable work done throughout time by the Church in running of hospitals, Charity work and general aid to people everywhere. The churches do not preach a policy of strife and warfare. Definitely. Nor should they. We would also welcome and try to support anyone, even outside the Church, being good samaritans.

Atheism, says little about a persons faith in humanity or his ambitions. An atheist might for example believe that humanity has much potential and towards unlocking that potential through manipulating genes or cybernetics for example.

The word you are looking for is a "cynic". Considering that a cynic may or may not believe in God, atheist can not logically be equal to cynic.

An atheist has no belief in God, because God has theoretically turned his back on us. If you're a religious person and believe in the myth of creation then you believe God lost a bet. Now he has to watch someone play with his new toy until they mess up or break it. In addition atheist are merely logical people. Lets face it, how many wars have been fought in the name of God? And how many wars have been fought by truly godless people?

Atheists are often Secular Humanists, or some variant philosophy, which seeks to improve the status of the human race and imbue dignity to all persons regardless of origin.

Religion teaches strife and warfare and teaches us that all humans are sinful and dirty and that most will burn in hell for eternity, especially those 'other people', i.e., those outside of the group.

Care to rethink your stupid little conjecture?

Oh that is so NOT true...They do love, they have friends, they love their families.

They do not believe there is a GOD or Satan. They do not believe that there is a heaven or a hell.

I have more respect for atheists that are willing to listen and consider the possibilities and beliefs of others.... And yes there are some, unless my best friend is a one of a kind.

Athiesm means NO God
which is impossible to prove-you would have to be God-every where at one time-to know spiritually and physically there is no God.

the heavens declare the Glory of God and His word defines who He is. Psalm 19

the fool hath said in their heart, there is no God. Palm 14:1

when one doesnt believe in God -then we become just animals-monkeys decendents-do monkeys believe in monkeys-do they serve God to love others as they love themselves -or do they act as animals one toward another-dominating in selfish interests?

when one believes we came from nothing -which has time dated meaning it was created and became alive by accident through a one cell life with perfect dna to reproduce only that one cell life-and didnt have a fairy to become alive-and a billion accidents later turned into a human with a soul seeking God. Monkeys dont search for God.

then is it any wonder -Athiests are for the most part fine people -yet when we leave God out of the equation-they live and die-and dont want to believe in salvation and the joy of heaven-John 3 repented of sin and born again-Revelation 1:1, 3:19&20 (the prayer to open our heart door repent from sin and let Jesus in to be our friend)and chapters 19-22 -describe the joy of heaven and salvation today, and also the weeping forever in hell for rejecting) God and His free salvation.
they do believe in humanity in their own self way.

An atheist has no belief in any gods. The term says nothing about humanity. However, since every atheist known on this planet is a human, your statement is on its face impossible. If it is your attempt to be poetic or profound, it falls short.

By the way, did you mean to have a question mark after "Discuss"?

2007-05-08 01:13:03 · answer #7 · answered by NHBaritone 7 · 8 1

I would say its the exact opposite.

Atheists will not pray to God to solve problems, they will find ways to solve them with other humans.

Atheists will not be good to people for the sake of pleasing God, but because they believe in humanity

Atheists will not be good to people merely because it is part of the criteria to get into heaven, but because they believe in humanity.

Atheists will not murder, steal, commit adultery etc.. not simply because they fear Hell, but because they believe in humanity.

Atheists will not force their beliefs on children of a school age, because they believe in humanity

Step away form the propaganda son, it's dangerous.

Atheists differ from theists in one thing only: a belief in God or gods. Aside from that we're just the same.

Could you clarify that for me? You mean I don't believe that humanity exists - I am imagining that there are about 6.5 billion people on earth, I am the only one alive - and a ghost or invisible entity typed this question?

Now I thought that an Atheist was someone who not only doesn't believe in God, but is also against religion.

I detest religions dictating to people how to live their lives etc.
and I also pity such people that need such false comforts to get through life.

Of course I beleive in humanity, and I cherish it.
