You are supposed to wait until you are in active withdrawals from the opiate you have been on before you start taking the Suboxone, otherwise the Naloxone in it will make you very, very sick.

Check with the pharmacist or doctor. The answer will depend on how much and how long you've been taking the hydrocodone. That's a major jump from hydrocodone to suboxone. Why are you wanting to make the change? There are numerous pain meds in between the strength of these two. You will probably need to wait 48-72 hours before taking suboxone.
