As a vet like me you will remember what happened to all the people who worked for the US in Vietnam. Now tell me how we are going to get out of Iraq without that happening again. We never should have went into Iraq, but I have yet to hear anyone tell me a good way to get out. We have half of the gear we own over there and it is almost all going to have to come out by sea. That is going to be ever so much fun. Anybody remember Dunkirk,

Where I live people show their support to my family daily. I am sorry that you don't see it.
The US needs to support its troops. I think so many people want to show their support but don't know how.

We can't just point our finger at Bush as Clinton sure as heck didn't go either.

Somebody has to finish the fight. I wish another country would step up and take the lead as we seem to be the only country that is sending so many over there. I realize England is also sending troops, perhaps we don't hear enough about what they are doing?

Your facts are wrong. We're looking at closer to 100 a MONTH, not a year.

People don't come out in droves because we have a volunteer army, and haven't been asked to sacrifice at all for this conflict if we don't have "skin in the game." All the costs are on the credit card, so to speak.

People are more likely to not be outraged if we don't get drafted into this war, as opposed to our volunteer army.

However, the people did what they should at the election booth this past fall. Whether the politicians will have the guts to do what it takes is another matter, entirely.

First of all your premise as to the cause of the war in Iraq is incorrect.

Next your belief that no one in America cares for those deployed is insulting and also incorrect.

You also ignore the fact that with unemployment at 4.5% the Army is having no trouble recruiting the soldiers needed to support its mission.

In short you do not know Jack!

My husband is serving in Iraq as I answer this. And yes, you're right... I do care as a wife. But you're wrong in thinking others don't. Everyday, I have at least 10 people asking to send their thanks to my husband. Telling me that he is in their prayers, even inviting us over to dinner when he gets back to express their gratitude for his service. I think you are sorely mistaken in thinking the country doesn't back our soldiers. They do. You don't have to back the war, to back the troops.

*For those who are wondering- I work Customer Service in a major Dept store and I wear a Marine's Wife pin with a yellow ribbon EVERYDAY. I get asked about it by tons of people everyday, and so far no one has told me my husband is wrong for being over there. They all wish him a safe return, and their well wishes etc etc.

OF COURSE WE CARE!!! The Iraqi people care even more. Liberals are so selfish! Do you have any idea what Saddam did to HIS OWN CITIZENS? DON'T YOU THINK THE IRAQIS APPRECIATE WHAT WE ARE DOING FOR THEM? I SURE AS HELL WOULD IF I WERE ONE. If this succeeds, kids in Iraqi schools will be thanking us for giving them a democracy.

the people of America care, unfortunately bush could care less, we now have a draft dodging, deserting SOB as commander in chief of the armed forces...the entire war in Iraq is based on a lie in order to cover up bush's complete failure in Afghanistan....the so called war on terror is just a excuse for big oil to rape the world, and make even more money then they already do...needless to say, bush is owned by th saudi's, and big oil
