Yes - it should state if it is water resistant. You need to reapply though - usuallyl after 2 hours.
Otherwise some swim wear have sun protection. Try to swim in the shade if possible. (eg, if you are at the pool or when you are at the beach use a beach umbrella).
also try not to go out during lunch time - it is when the most sun damage occurs.

Yes, it is if the sunscreen is resistant to water. Sunscreen should be applied every few hours for maximum protection.

Ok...I live in S Africa where it is imperitive to use sun block / screen in summer months. SO : yes, there are sunscreens that are water-proof (check the factor on the bottle) ....usually 40+ factor is best when doing watersports.....and re-apply regularly.......esp. after towelling off....... you can also purchase a complete sun-block ( good for sensitive skin) which , with proper application, will leave you looking like Drew Barrymore from Poltergeist....ie : very pale! your pharmacist will be able to assist with queries. happy swimming!

Look for water resistant sunscreen and if you are continuously in the water, jump out every hour or so to reapply. The best at preventing burning - I have found - is Bullfrog brand.

yes, just re-apply from time to time if you, say, stay the whole afternoon.
however, some swimming pools actually ban sunscreen because it contaminates their water treatment system, and some only allow sunscreen when you are on the deck and you are supposed to rinse them off before entering the pool. so check with them.

Definitely yes. The glare from the water makes you get sunburnt even quicker. It acts like a mirror. There are sunblocks that you can keep on for several hours but I'd reapply more often when in the water. You can buy bathing gear that's made with material that blocks out the nasty rays. Check it out in swimwear and surfing shops.

Most sun screen in water resistant. Most people don't realize that you have to re-apply it throughout the day.
